I spent an hour trying to complete what should have been a simple return, only to encounter rude and unhelpful staff, a manager (David) who promised follow-up but never delivered, and a store that reeked of weed.
The issue began when I attempted to do a return for an order I had purchased with a gift card. I didn’t have the physical card with me but I did have the gift card number. The female employee (who I now see has multiple complaints in these reviews) was not only rude but also seemed uninterested in doing things correctly. She struggled with the return process alongside a second employee (who seemed new or in training) and eventually suggested processing the return as a trade-in instead of a return. This would have reduced my refund by over 50%. When I refused, she claimed she couldn’t process the return without the physical gift card.
This was frustrating because I knew from past experiences (and a call to customer service before coming in) that the physical card wasn’t necessary — they could simply issue a new one. Nonetheless, I made a half-hour round trip to retrieve the card. When I returned, her method still didn’t work — proving that the problem wasn’t the lack of a physical card, meaning the trip was a waste of my time.
At that point, the employee called the store manager, David, who listened to the situation and apologized for how I’d been treated. He acknowledged the mistakes made and promised to follow up later that week to resolve the issue and make things right. That was over a month ago, and I’ve heard nothing since.
To make matters worse, the store smelled strongly of weed, and I could see vapor coming from the back room. This experience was beyond unacceptable, and the lack of professionalism from the staff and management was appalling.
GameStop corporate needs to address the behavior of this store’s staff and ensure proper training and accountability. Customers shouldn’t have to deal with rude employees, wasted time, and...
Read moreI don't fault the staff on-hand, Jonathan (store manager) and the women working with him in the afternoon were all so sweet and doing their best to accommodate the chaos. The midnight release for the Switch 2 was the most disorganized and embarrassing thing I've ever had to be a part of though. I recognized two members of the higher-up staff there that showed up to offer a hand to the two members of staff we saw. Corporate having to show up and still struggle was tough to watch. People were still making purchases at their pickups, which drastically slowed the lines down. The fact that we didn't even get our console for nearly two hours, even though we were in line and following instructions given earlier in the day. That, and the best buy across the parking lot finished their line within an hour, and they had twice as many people in line as this store did. That's so embarrassing. We did our preorder, and "precheck," and still waited for close to two hours even though we were on the first half of the line. The bundle we had paid for wasn't even fully assembled either. Had we not checked, we would have left without a ~$60 game in hand. This all felt so poorly organized and like they didn't care about the people who did their part and preordered/pre-checks their purchases. What was the point in preordering if we still had to wait around for two hours with the customers who didn't? Just. Do better. This was a really, really frustrating experience for something we were really...
Read moreThis GameStop sold games to my husband for my youngest son, and I just called and the young man told me that he could not only not give me the name of the manager, could not give me the name of the owner of the store, he also could not tell me where our package was and stated that we needed to call USPS to find out why the package was picked up from us four days ago and never delivered to my house. He asked how do I consider that the mail was just late? We live in Henry County, this store is in Buford and we thought how awesome they have this… now we are sitting here ALL wondering how long we should be waiting. Soooo at the point, super disappointed with this seller, owner or whoever.
Update @12:51pm today called the store and CHASE… said “come to the store, you will have to buy them but just come.” Why Chase would I buy games I bought already?!! He then hung up on me and now the GameStop escalations team has now reached out. All of this is overheard by my sons who thought it was a prank call… oh no sons this is an actual employee…
Update: 1:17 I have been given the name of the assistant manager and manager…apparently Jonathan Hacker is manager and Kyle Morton no longer works there who was the Assistant Manager. I was advised by an actual pleasant young employee that Jonathan will be there at 9 tomorrow morning. That’s wonderful, can’t wait! Orders have been cancelled; but our piss poor treatment should be heard and played in front of the manager. GameStop full of...
