I wish I could give this establishment less than a 1 Star rating. On Wednesday, I took 10 Item's to May's Cleaners to be dry cleaned and one item to be altered (straps shortened on a jumpsuit). I asked if I could pick up my items on Friday and was advised this would not be a problem as long as I picked them up after 6 PM on Friday. Due to my own circumstances I wasn't able to pick up my items until the following Monday. On Monday, I gave Mrs May my receipt, swiped my card for $49.54 at which time she went to retrieve my items. She returns and gives me 2 items not in plastic. The first one was the jumpsuit I paid to have straps altered, this had not been completed. The original safety pins I placed on straps to show her where I wanted them shortened was still on the straps, clearly this item wasn't altered and had not been dry cleaned. The second item was another jumpsuit which she showed me had a huge rip down the front of the neckline which was not like that when dropped off. Mrs May advised me she did not have time to get to my original alteration and that it would cost me $5 for her to fix neckline on torn jumpsuit. This was appalling to me because my jumpsuit was not torn when I dropped it off and secondly, how could she ask me to pay for damages incurred during the cleaning process. After several exchanges back and forth and another customer's suggestion, Mrs May agreed to fix the ripped jumpsuit at no charge but advised I would need to come back the following day. Needless to say I was not happy because I already paid for original alteration and dry cleaning on all 10 pieces, not to mention my time coming back and forth. Fast forward to the following day, Item #1 was finally altered and cleaned but the ripped jumpsuit was sewn into a V-Neck shape when it was a crew shaped neckline when I originally dropped it off to her. I was very upset that she ruined my jumpsuit, basically sewed along the jagged edges altering the appearance of my jumpsuit, creating a deep v-neck, not even close to its original state. I was very upset since this was an outfit worn only once. I asked Mrs May for her policy on damaged items, where as she pointed me to read the sign pictured below. The jumpsuit which was ruined did not contain buttons, jewelry, buckles, or belts. When I asked how she was going to make this right or where do I fill out an insurance claim, she preceded to tell me she was not going to do anything about my jumpsuit, it must have been like that already and she didn't notice it because she can't notice every little thing about customer's clothing brought in, she insinuated I brought it in that way, she stated her machines are very gently and were very costly, she stated she has NEVER torn any items in her shop before (which I find hard to believe). Any way to make a long story short she never made any attempted to make this situation right. I will never give them any more of my business . I encourage anyone who continues to do business with this establishment to take pictures of your items before leaving them and also to inspect each item prior to paying for your services. I have previously done business with this establishment without any incidents but I see once something was ruined their true business practices was shown to me. Oh my goodness!!! If I could give negative stars, I would! These people have RUINED 2 different outfits! They completely ruined a silk Lilly Pulitzer blouse that had several tiny spots. This was a new top & now completely ruined! The owner said she try to get spots out, and I just picked it up — now the blouse has huge HUGE spots of grease/oil/cleaner all over it… on the back too, (where there were no spots), now it’s covered with dark stains of their cleaning liquid. Don’t go here if you like your clothes! That blouse was over $150 :-(
