Havertys quality is no longer equivalent to its history. We paid almost double for our living room sectional not quite three years ago to get it from Havertys. We couldâve purchased something very similar from another store of lower quality, at least thatâs what we thought. In the first year, we had warranty work done by Havertys, multiple visits. Following that we had the power go out in the wedge. An armless recliner that barely got use quit working, Another recliner mechanism failed and needs to be replaced. The leather on one of the pieces had the topcoat completely come off. It has never been Cleaned with chemicals or even the leather cleaner that came with the kit. As we were advised by Havertys direct repair not to use that stuff and to only use water and a damp cloth.
I see multiple reviews online about the quality of the leather and color comes off for other people. The warranty company wanted to fix the couch despite the repair person saying itâs not worth it. Our model has been discontinued so they offered a buyout or replacing. When we got to the store we were told itâs called re-selection. Upon further research, we found that the sectional we purchased was not a Havertys exclusive and was available through other retailers and also had not good reviews.
We went to the store and the original sales person was there and wanted to help us. The conversation quickly went from I know the price of the replacement couch is a little bit higher, but Iâll take care of it and let me work it up. To well, itâs been a few years and prices have gone up and hereâs the best I can do. The best they could do is an almost $2000 difference for a couch with one less piece. Which, is one less seating area than what we currently have. It appears to be similar to what we already have, which is not standing up to normal use. A product that we paid for expecting Havertys quality has certainly not been the quality that Havertys used to be. We paid extra to buy from Havertys over one of the many competitors.
The warranty purchased doesnât cover replacing with a similar sofa sectional. Our trip to the store was not because we wanted to upgrade or get a different color. We are there because the sectional we purchased has not held up at all. It is substandard quality.
We even heard in the store âoh yeah the quality wasnât as good in 2021 but itâs better nowâ I donât think anybody should be saying that about their products and then expecting us to pay, almost $2000 more to replace it. Of course in 2021 we were told it was a solid and top end couch when we purchased. Totally feels like car sales. And we see whatâs happening to car dealerships that were over pricing vehicles and sending out with quality issues.
So at this point, we will take the guardsman buyout and just purchase something somewhere else for less money with the expectation it wonât last as long.
It certainly did not at Havertys. And we will shop elsewhere for less money. Very disappointed at what the Havertyâs brand has become. We may not be the only ones feeling this way. We were there on a Saturday and only two other couples were in that massive store looking at anything. They did not stay long.
Over priced, the style and the quality is certainly not there. It seems like Havertyâs is going the way of Sears.
Additionally, in an attempt to get me an additional discount, the staff and manager gave me a military discount. This was after I had already answered the question that I had not served. I have deep respect for our military and the sacrifices they and their families give. I will not be part of stolen valor or taking a discount that is meant for our military men and women. They earned that discount, I did not.
Management should have some other way to price adjust in a situation where their quality did not hold up and it is a warranty...
Read moreI will be completely honest in that I never take the time to write reviews. Good or bad. However, I have never been so disappointed and I feel the need to vocalize my experience. If I could rate this review with ZERO stars, I would. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered with a company. Being that I just moved from the North, this was my first interaction/purchase with Havertys. I am sad to say that this will absolutely be the last time I ever visit their showrooms. I was appalled by the lack of customer service I had received. There was no ownership taken for the stores mistake. Instead, they chose to punish a customer over a few hundred dollars. Now, we are left without a table while hosting guests this weekend. We purchased a floor model kitchen table. The table was in beautiful condition in the showroom and marked down half of the regular selling price. Perfect fit for the space we were hoping to fill. I took the day off work, unpaid, to be available for a morning delivery. The table arrived fully assembled which clearly could not fit through any standard door. The delivery team began disassembling the table to attempt to fit in through the doorway. In this process, the delivery team cracked the bottom of the table. Enough of a crack to be visible and cause an imbalance in the table structure. They took it back on the truck. During, my initial conversation with Customer Service, I was reassured that it was the fault of the store and they would work to get a new table delivered as soon as possible. They understood at this time that it was a store model. Later, I received a call telling me that they cannot replace my table because they do not have another store model. All they offered to do was refund my money. So not only did the delivery team cause issues but then I was provided with false information when dealing with Customer Service. At no point in time were we at fault, yet here we are without a table and a terrible taste in our mouth. The retail price of the table was $1,499.00 and the store model was priced around $750.00. The store opted to lose not only one customer but many over $750.00. I will do everything in my power to assure anyone I talk to is aware of the poor business practices this company delivers as well as the customer service they DO NOT deliver. This was an absolutely...
Read moreLiterally only giving one star so that I can write this review. From start to finish, the experience of purchasing a new mattress was a complete NIGHTMARE - we're talking worse than Freddy Krueger. To start things off, I originally purchased a Tempurpedic mattress from here. Things went pretty smoothly, got the bed in my apartment, tried it out for my 30 days... decided against it... and that's when it all went downhill. Originally, I thought that the 90 night sleep guarantee meant that I could return the mattress if I didn't love it - comma however - I could only exchange it for another mattress offered by Haverty's. Okay, no biggie. That's my bad. I just didn't read the fine print properly. So, I go back to pick out another mattress. Options were pretty slim, but I didn't really have a choice at this point. Found a mattress that I was happy with, and got everything set up to get the mattresses switched out. OR AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT. Was told by the sales rep that he would get everything ready and call me on x-date to notify me that it had been done. He never called. In fact, I called him. He hadn't done anything... then, rushed to put in the information and guess what.... THE WRONG MATTRESS WAS DELIVERED. After a disgruntled phone call with the sales rep and the manager, I got my CORRECT mattress two days later... Here we are almost two months after our original purchase, and I'm still having issues. Synchrony (who they use to finance) has absolutely none of the correct info, I JUST received my first statement because the address entered by Haverty's was INCORRECT. Tried to register online so that I could set up an automatic draft, WRONG BIRTHDAY.... Apparently data entry is NOT one of Haverty's strong suits, even though I'm pretty sure most children have the ability to input information from a piece of paper.
TL;DR - Haverty's is more interested in your money than your experience. Always read the...
