I thought I reviewed Orrman’s but I see I didn’t so here’s a VERY late review! We came here a few months back for raclette night and it did NOT disappoint. Despite being in 7th St Market, I felt like I was in a European café or in places I’ve been to in NYC so I was really happy Charlotte had a place like this with the same vibe. The Good: the food, the raclette, the vibe, and the service. We were able to pick out the perfect bottle of red from the shop across the way that complemented the cheese perfectly. Basic raclette, which is what we got, is raclette over boiled potatoes, bread, and gherkins - $20. I should have sprung the extra $4 for the raclette with charcuterie but I didn’t because I thought it would be too much food. The normal raclette was a small/good size portion but I definitely could’ve used some meat so next time I’ll get that. We ended up getting a tin of delicious sardines that our cheesemonger recommended so chat with them about their packaged fish if you’re a fan! The small starter salad and chocolate pot de crème were the perfect opening and dessert to the meal. Keep in mind, portions aren’t standard American restaurant size AND the cheeses are VERY high quality so be prepared to pay more for the quality! Some might call it pretentious but I say it’s a good value for the quality. The Meh: as with all vendors in 7th St Market, they close at 7 because that’s when the market closes. If you’re looking for a nice, date night spot, you better get it in early! I didn’t realize the market closed at 7 and we were there until closing time but Orrman’s staff did not rush us which we really appreciated. I don’t like being THAT person because I know people have lives to get back to, so I rushed myself when I would’ve liked to have chilled a bit - but thats on me. I hope the market’s hours increase soon now that COVID is better! The Bad: nope, nothing. 5 starts! I see they moved to a bigger spot within the market so I will for sure be back for another raclette night! This time with charcuterie (on top of more sardines haha). Easy access from the light rail or there’s tons of parking in the parking garage which you can get validated within the market.

Rachel at Orrman's Cheese Shop is awesome! She was so helpful in helping us take a vision to reality for my daughter's wedding reception. My daughter has never liked sweets and the thought of eating wedding cake was NOT a possibility for her. So her groom got the rich chocolate cake he desired, and she got the magnificent "cake" of cheese she wanted. And her wedding guests got a DELICIOUS and SURPRISING cheese course between dinner and dessert. Rachel spent a long time showing us all the possibilities that were available in their store and how they could all fit together to make the cohesive, delicious, and beautiful display we hoped for. She emailed us about possible changes. We went in a second time for another consultation. And Rachel was so patient and helpful at every turn. The final product, well, the photo speaks for itself. AMAZING. WONDERFUL. PERFECT. The final garnish with fruit was my own design, but it was easy because Rachel's cheeses were perfect!

Food - Stopped at 7th street public market food hall to explore and grab a quick bit. After passing a few shops we ended up at Orrman's for a grilled sandwich. We picked up the #4 smoked mozzarella, prosciutto & roasted tomatoes. The sandwich flavors were excellent and not greasy. This was an excellent choice for a quick bite. Service - Order up at the counter then get a number to find a seat. Restaurant - Not really a restaurant. More of a food hall. Overall - If in the area, check this location out. Neat stop for a mixture of different foods and drinks. Sandwich was worth the trip as we passed through town.

Ordered Mac and cheese and a salad - all they had to do was heat the Mac and cheese so it had a crispy top I was quoted 10 minutes everyone’s food was being delivered except mine … at 30 minutes I went to counter and asked for a refund where I was told the food is ready if I want to have it- no I don’t have time at this point. I have no use for this food as I won’t be able to eat it- refund please- 10 min later I have to go back and find out what’s taking so long on my refund to be told it’s already done you will see it at the end of the day- so to be lied to about how long and now you want me to actually trust your going to refund. HORRIBLE. Customer service - Completely dismissive of the actual problem I will NOT be spending my money on...
