Ridiculous Salon. If I could give negative stars I would. This only pertains to the management NOT the stylists who are doing their best. I come in for a balayage consult with Amber and they book me for a balayage with another person, Gabby. The other stylist does not do the balayage, but does "back-comb" highlights which looked like streaky 90s higlights in an ashy tone that I did not care for. Obviously, I was not happy with my hair because I specifically wanted a warm honey balayage. I still paid for the service AND tipped 20% because Gabby was very nice and did a great job of willing to work with me after, which I appreciated. She tells me to book an appointment with the front desk to get it fixed and am in communication with Ana. I am told that by Ana that I would be able to come in to get it fixed free of charge which I gladly accepted after paying $350 for something that I did not ask for & did not suit me. I tell Ana that I want to get it fixed with the original stylist that I had the consult with, Amber. I am scheduled out 2 MONTHS to see her, and had worked with Ana for weeks on end, constantly checking in with her about getting the soonest appointment because I wanted this done asap. I come in to get it fixed, and after everything goes well, the manager "Claire" tells me that have to pay $275 for the service to fix my hair. What kind of a scam is this?? 😂😂 I'm writing a police report because "Claire" tried to intimidate me with a false police report. NOT TODAY CLAIRE!! Can you please explain to the police how if allegedly I had known that I was going to pay $350 again for a service that wasn't done correctly the first time, why I would want to come back to spend my money here? Edit to the response: Your argument is that I came to get a free hairstyle when the entire time I've been stating that I've been wanting the get my hair fixed and I have written accounts of this with the date and time. Everything checks out on my end, while you have nothing to press charges with. Please, don't waste their time, Claire. Any administrative lack of communication on Salon 8's behalf is beyond my control and not my issue. I did my job by being willing to work this out and communicating what I expected since the beginning. News flash: It's theft if a paid service with expectations of that service is not performed. Its like if I contracted a company to replace the tile in my shower and instead of replacing it to a blue tile they send someone who uses a red tile, and after I get the company to fix it to blue they threaten to call the police if I don't pay for both installations. What is bogus is that you believe that I am required to pay double for you to do a service you advertise right. The difference between good management and bad management is everything and this example shows us how it can ruin potential regulars no matter what the issue is. Please do better for the other women who aren't brave enough to stand up...
Read moreProfessional salon, professional hair stylists, I feel I was understood and given exactly what I described and that it was done very well, exceeding my expectations. It's tricky finding a knowledgable hair stylist these days, especially with the abundance of cookie cutter businesses that offer deals similar to $15 men's hair cuts.
For a long time I was going to places like that and eventually I stopped feeling comfortable when asked "what do you want?". Literally lost faith in hair stylists. On multiple occasions I attempted to respectfully tell them something to inspire a bit of confidence and creativity, like, "hm. Well, you're the stylist- what do you think would be a good look for me?" -In hopes they had that type of 'vision'.. but from my personal experience over the years, cheaper places or even places that market well and provide $25-$30 haircuts don't usually have employees who possess the sort of talent I felt was present at 8 salon.
I actually began cutting my own hair about 8 months ago and was happier with my own results compared to the aforementioned types of place. Truee storyyy.
I finally told my wife I wanted to try an actual professional stylist and only paid $55 at 8 salon, plus a $20 tip which was probably more than expected, but actually I felt glad to give. She was familiar with all the styles, different sports players and public figures who had the styles I mentioned, what trends are going on, etc.
And what was above and beyond in my opinion- what was ultimately the most distinguishing factor for me Besides a great haircut, is she was able to explain and describe to me what sort of hair I have, like something out of a hair science text book. Also what products work best at different lengths, what different parts of my scalp is doing/ creating pattern wise and directions of my hair, etc.
It was unlike other experiences. I usually received blank stares as a response to these questions. I Can't make this stuff up. Like I said, it was a great experience and if the stylist ever sees this, thanks again!
Really, I've described what I wanted to many a stylist, and I finally was able to get the look I've been going for for a long time. My wife's happy, I'm happy, and I'm making this up- I even have a buddy that I've been skyping with across the country who noticed my hair cut on camera. He didn't say anything about it, but a couple days later logged on ( after a hair cut ) and was trying to rock the same hair style I received while being all non chalant about it. I mean, c'mon there's no bigger compliment to the stylist...
Read moreI had the best experience with everyone I came in contact with at Salon 8. In the past, I have had a few really bad experiences with hair and have developed a great deal of anxiety around the process of finding a new stylist and getting my hair cut and colored. I knew I needed someone calming and patient who would listen to me and not just rush me through.
The staff recommended Michael to me and he was phenomenal from start to finish. He went above and beyond listening, asking the right questions, getting a feel for my hair and offering suggestions based on my coloring, face shape and general style. His advice was excellent and his cut and style were perfectly on point. He gave me pushback when I asked for things that wouldn't work for my hair type - exactly what I was looking for. He also gave me excellent tips for how to style my hair with the new cut. Truly full-service.
It is obvious they aim to stand out in the industry, and they have accomplished it. I have been to very high end salons in Switzerland, Paris, London and New York. This is the best service I have ever received. Each one of the ladies working at the front were super kind and went out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I would expect a salon like 8 to have high caliber stylists that can accomplish whatever look one wants, but to be treated with such kindness and deference was exceptional in an industry that often seems to value snootiness (often with no substance). Michael is a wonderful person and a damn good stylist - this place is a gem in this industry - so grateful to have them here...
