Don't move here, it isn't worth it. Despite living here 2021-2022 I'm writing a review now because Greystar just dinged my credit almost 200 points for not paying a $1300 "insufficient notice" fee. I gave more than the required 60 day notice prior to the end of my lease, but since I moved out within a few weeks of notifying them, not only did I pay the last month's rent but I ALSO had to pay an additional fee just for moving out before my end of lease date. So if you move out before your lease end date, I guess just try not to actually tell them/pretend you're still living there till the end, so they don't try to hunt you down almost 3 years later for some more money and a big hit to your credit score. Note that when I moved out, there was no communication to me about the "insufficient notice" fee - I even have an email from management saying that I just had to pay my last month's rent, which I did. Without further ado, here is my laundry list of complaints of why no one should live here: Logistics/lack of safety a. Garage door stays open too long, other cars without a parking pass followed me in all the time b. The front desk often won’t tell me about flower or food deliveries (perishable items) which my boyfriend likes to send to me as a surprise c. There is no reliable way to get ahold of the front desk and security is rarely there d. People have repeatedly been let up to my apartment without warning from the front desk despite the individuals not being on my approved guest list
Presentation/community a. Music played by neighbors is so loud that it physically shakes my walls b. The hallways constantly smell like weed and the only crack down on smoking since I’ve been here is one notice sent to residents during a holiday weekend that smoking should not occur on balconies c. Within a few months of moving in, one-third of my light bulbs were burnt out d. Within a few months of moving in, my fire alarm went off for being damaged due to battery acid leakage on the inside. Off duty maintenance had to be called by Property Management since no one was picking up when I tried to call. The noise terrified my dog and he hid in a closet for hours while this was all happening. e. There is no way online to see payment history for rent and utilities (maybe this has changed since I moved out?) f. Hot water in the shower does not last for longer than 15 minutes and the bathtub cannot be fully filled with hot water
Health a. The trash chute is commonly overflowing b. Ants and flies constantly everywhere c. There is a concerning amount of mold in my bathroom sink faucet all the time
When I moved in a. No real loading dock - you have to just park in the parking garage and hopefully get a spot close to the elevator b. Freight elevator was not reserved for me despite requesting so with significant notice in advance c. Toilet was not working d. Half the outlets were not working
Courtyard a. This is legitimately the only reason I moved here and almost immediately it was either partially shut down and eventually fully shut down for code violations b. The process of getting the area up to code was wildly lengthy and poorly communicated (I wonder if this has been fixed since I moved out?) c. No alternative was offered to residents despite us getting notified that we would be given an alternative; there was also no reduction in our monthly "pet rent" fees d. The area surrounding the Flats is not safe for dogs as it’s constantly littered with broken glass, cigarettes and trash so that's not a...
Read moreMy wife was doing research about nice places to live downtown Cleveland with a pool and we found Flats at East Bank. She emailed them first and no one contacted her. She reached out via phone and her first experience was not a good impression after speaking with Dexter who was very disruptive and wasn’t good at clarifying. So her impression of the customer service automatically made her say 'no I don’t think this would be a good place'. I told her let’s give this place a chance and I regret it tremendously. Dexter was very misleading and kept over talking us during the virtual tour and the phone call. Arianna was more pleasant to speak with but it’s clear she didn’t want to step on Dexters toes. So we were convinced by Dexter to apply and he mentioned as long as we have enough income (i.e. 3 times the rent) then we would be fine. We asked what was the specific criteria that needs to be met including what’s the credit score range that they look for. He emphasized that we shouldn’t worry about that because rarely do they decline people. After we paid the fees, we received an email that we were declined. We called Dexter to find why and he said they don’t know and that we have to call the screening company (Safe Housing). We called the screening company and there were no red flags to prevent us from being accepted. We called Dexter back to explain this and he was disruptive again, not explaining why we were declined or anything. My wife and I make more than 4.5x the rent here, and we don’t have anything negative on our credit that would prevent us from living anywhere. We have lived all over the country for our careers and this is by far the worse experience ever in applying for a place. The professionalism of this place is really last to all places. The manager Hannah, was very aggressive and redundant - she kept talking over me and being rude on the phone, not able to tell us about what they look for on applicants credit. They should be clear and front with applicants and not beat around the bush like Dexter and Hannah did. If we met all of the criteria, then what demographics are they using to determine who lives there? They will only reel you in for their benefit. We don’t know if any property that doesn’t ask more questions after they screen your background and credit. First time ever going through this, and we have lived in the best places across California, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida and Ohio. Gets me to wonder if this place looks at color when it comes to renting out to people, because they can't explain the reason why we were declined. Thank you, Dexter for wasting our time and Hannah (Manager) for your lack of...
Read moreThis building is very poorly managed. They sell hopes and dreams they don’t even attempt to live up to (like 24/7 concierge service). Not only is there RARELY concierge service, when there is, they do the bare minimum. You can’t have food delivered to your door. The person at the front desk refused to deliver it outside of my door when I had Covid. The building is dirty. Like dog poop in the halls, puke in the elevator, garbage juice on the hallway carpet dirty. If your neighbor smokes, it’ll be in your apartment too. I feel like my husband and I are the only two in the building that picked up after our dog. There’s dog poop all over the third floor roof deck, and every bit of grass outside the building. We rented out the community room and they never alerted the other residents so we had people with their dogs walking through our party the entire time and we still had to pay as if it was even reserved by them. After our first month living here we wanted to leave. They make it very hard to break your lease even when their own false advertising is the reason you’re leaving. I’d never recommend this building to anyone. Go elsewhere, almost anywhere else would be better. They’ll reply to this saying they’ll look for ways to do better but they won’t. They never have even after our numerous complaints while living there. They don’t care about satisfaction all they care about is their bottom...
