VIP is NOT VIP
We had a group of about 15 people go out to Goodnight John Boy this past weekend (June 26th) for my sisters 21st birthday. We had two VIP tables reserved for the night, along with bottle service. Here were the issues:
VIP TABLES NOT ROPED OFF/ SEPARATED FROM REST OF BAR - besides a single booth running the length of the tables on a single side. We CONSTANTLY had people bumping into our tables, knocking our drinks over, and stealing our drinks (which we paid a lot of money for). Kind of defeats the whole purpose of “VIP”, does it not?
ZERO AIR CONDITIONING! This bar was DEFINITELY over capacity, with zero ventilation. We were shoulder-to-shoulder with people all night. It was a literal sweat shop. No one in our party could even enjoy the VIP tables we purchased because it was just too hot. We all ended up going outside, on the patio, where it was STILL overcrowded.
FIRE HAZARD?! I reiterate, this bar was definitely over capacity, which is a fire hazard. I don’t know how the fire marshal hasn’t received a call/complaint yet.
Overall, the idea & atmosphere of this bar is fun but, there are definitely some kinks with crowd control and VIP. Every other bar in Cleveland has a roped off VIP section. That’s the main reason people PAY for tables/VIP. I didn’t pay to be sitting at a booth in the middle of a giant crowd while constantly dealing with the tables getting bumped into and drinks being knocked over & stolen.
I would definitely return to this bar if they could get these issues figured out. But, until then, Goodnight John Boy. Definitely won’t be seeing you...
Read moreWe usually come to this place every time we’re in cleveland. We love the atmosphere and always have enjoyed our nights. We came in last weekend and it has ruined our love for this bar. We came in with a few people and at one point someone in our group said they were stepping outside and it was taking a minute so my husband stepped outside to find her and make sure all was well, and the extremely ugly minded security guard that was outside would not let him back in and said my husband “is too drunk”. Mind you, we were there for maybe 3 hours max, if that, and my husband only had 2 beers. I asked the security guard why he wasn’t allowed back in and he said “he was stumbling”. Well my husband walks with a limp due to multiple recent knee surgeries. I explained that to him also that everyone he was with is inside, and he still wouldnt let him back in. Not one person in our group was acting out, we all tipped and treated everyone respectfully. There wasn’t a time when a bartender thought anyone needed cut off. I spoke with people inside and explained the situation and they understood and told me to try and talk to the security guard again, but he still wasn’t understanding that he was completely disregarding someone’s disability. They would rather send someone off on their own, believing that...

To the owner and management
I am writing to express my utmost appreciation for the honesty and integrity demonstrated by your staff at Good Night John Boy. Recently, my daughter's boyfriend, lost his wallet while visiting your establishment. This was on Saturday 1/25 around 6:30-7:00. To our relief, not only was the wallet found, but all the money inside was intact.
This incident speaks volumes about the character and values of your employees. It is rare and commendable to find such stand-up individuals who go out of their way to do the right thing. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to the team member who found the wallet and ensured its safe return. Their actions have truly made a positive impact on our perception of your business.
I would like to specifically mention this experience as a testament to the quality of your employees and the environment you foster at Good Night John Boy. Thank you for providing a venue where such acts of kindness can...
