I was shopping at the store this morning and picked up three small items in the bins near the checkout. The greeter working the front door then began following me around the store and when I went into the Sale area, she promptly asked if she could hold my items at the front. It was obvious that I didn’t need help because I was easily holding all three items in one hand with my other hand free. This made me feel super uncomfortable, like she thought I was stealing. My boyfriend and I were window shopping at Polaris and we walked in to this cute boutique and I was really liking the clothes and size inclusivity, but what I didn’t appreciate is the constant swarming and being followed and watched in the store because I’m black.
