Columbus use to be a city where people could support local businesses and just pay taxes without having to pay an arm and a leg for street parking. These new meters downtown and in Franklinton are disgusting money grabs. It's hard to support these areas and communities when you have to pay a premium for a parking pay wall. To make matters worse, if you do pay for parking, expect to only get a couple hours before you have to continue paying since the department of "public service" can't let you have a nice night out with your friends. Nope. You need that constant nagging in the back of your head wondering if your meter is running out.
We pay so much in taxes. Why should we have to pay more fees in parking meters? How are you serving the public with these?
