So I've tried to hold my tongue because I try to support local as much as possible. But the customer service at the Donatos in the Short North at 1st and High is absolutely deplorable. I live and work about a block and a half from Donatos and so I usually pre-order a pizza to pick up after work for ease. Several times, and I mean about as many times as they do, my pizza is always late being made. I have even spoken with the owner there one day who lamented that I should not have had to wait an additional 10 minutes for a pizza that I had ordered 3 hours before to be picked up at a certain time. The most offensive part though is that there is never anyone at the pickup window. More often than not when I go to pick up my pizza, I have to bang on the window and wait several minutes for anybody to pay attention. It happened again today. And the way that girl rolled her eyes at me, like how dare I insist that she do her job after my pizza was 12 minutes late to be picked up because there was simply nobody there to help me, I have made a choice and a resolution. In 2025, I will be valuing myself as a customer. And I will only be going to places who will value me as a customer as well. Donatos's motto that every piece is important is apparently not true. Because the piece called customer service is obviously not important to you. So I will take my business elsewhere. Let's be honest, there are no shortage of pizza joints in our beautiful city. An amendment: the cold pizza not even cut through all the way. So that meant, I just had one big mass of cheese and toppings that when I attempted to try to cut through the slice marks with my butcher's knife, the crust was so soggy it made everything a mess. I had to take the pizza back because I was not going to eat pizza that made me cry. The manager then, after I returned it and did not particularly feel gracious after everything that it happened resulting in my not eating pizza for lunch today, decided to argue with me. I simply pointed out that every time I came out to that place the pizza is wrong and/or late. And that he should maybe read this review. I hope this is...
Read moreI ate recently [11-27-2023] at Donatos Short North at 920 N. High St. in the "Short North" neighborhood of Columbus.
I am a regular Donatos customer; I order food from Donatos several times each week. I usually order my food from Donatos Upper Arlington because I live about 300 feet from that location.
I had been planning to attend a meeting that evening at Stonewall Columbus, several blocks to the north, so I had decided to eat at Donatos Short North and then walk several blocks north so that I would be able to attend my meeting.
Most Donatos locations are free-standing buildings that are separate from their neighbors; this particular Donatos is part of a continuous structure [that consists of several different connected pieces] that runs between E. First Ave. and E. Second Ave. on the east side of N. High St.
One thing that is definitely unique about Donatos Short North is that there is a bar, Black Brick, in a separate room that is immediately south of the south end of the Donatos dining room, that is open occasionally.
Black Brick had been closed while I had been at Donatos but I had been able to walk into that space for a brief moment and take several pictures in the near-darkness.
My food order at Donatos Short North had been a meatball sub that definitely is one of my favorite food items at Donatos.
If you are looking for delicious food, I recommend any of the...
Read moreABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I've always had terrible customer service at this location but I still loved the food and it was convenient. Tonight was the last straw... I tried to order online so I didn't have to deal with the degenerates that run that place and it wouldn't allow me to place an order. I called in... No answer. No voicemail stating a new closing time, just kept ringing. So I hung up and called back. Still nothing. So I tried a third time and a gal picks up the phone and says "don't call back" and hangs up. I call again and a lady picks up, "HELLO". I tell her I'd like to place an order for delivery and she begins taking my information like nothing happened?! I ask her what had just went on and she says that they get prank callers and that's what they thought was happening??? AND IT'S THE MANAGER... I'm just a guy trying to place a pizza order. I get frustrated and ask for her name and of course, she won't give it to me. AND THEN she ends the conversation with, "we know where you live"
Donatos is a Columbus grown chain and I want to see it be successful but this is completely absurd. Doesn't matter how good the product is if you have people like this working for you. Very...
