I’ve driven by this store many times but never had the time to stop and look. Today I did. I entered the store and was immediately greeted. I was told the basics of what was in the store and where to find it. I was also told what the current specials were and what kind of discounts were involved.
Now this store is amazing when it comes to the amount of stock and the variety of the stock. I was definitely in sensory overload when looking at everything. Boxes, packs, single cards, autograph pictures, autograph jerseys, figurines, etc. You name it, they had it. There were some people sitting at tables, looking through singles, finding their favorite players or trying to complete a set. The atmosphere in there was great and the two staff members were very nice.
With all that said, the reason I rated the store the way I did, was their prices. In my opinion, the prices were very high, based on other means of getting those same like items elsewhere. Now as a business owner, you may price your product as you wish, but if the local market doesn’t support that, then it becomes non-beneficial to all involved.
I do my best to shop local, but when this happens, it forces me to shop elsewhere and spend my money elsewhere. With EBay, Amazon and other online shopping avenues, things should be competitively priced and monitored on a daily basis.
If your needs are immediate, then this place is for you. Please be ready to spend a lot more, based on convenience and getting your items same day. If you don’t need what you’re looking for right away, I suggest that you look at all of the possible platforms before making your decision. I would imaging that you would save a substantial amount of money buying online and getting that product a...
Read moreI would recommend skipping this place and here’s why:
Biggest Cons: They have their cards on “forever” sales. Many boxes that are always 1/2 off. This is considered “fraudulent marketing” by the FTC and illegal! Card stores will hike up prices on the sticker and then put them half off. Example: $20 auto, now half off $10 auto. Price discrimination. They have a sign that says “all Pokemon cards will be re-priced before checkout.” They check online (eBay/TCG) to make sure they aren’t getting scammed or priced their items wrong. This is a way for them to avoid re-pricing items, get the most profit out of each item and many customers hate this. Part of why people buy things is to get value. If they wanted to pay eBay or TCG prices, they would just stay home and pay for it to be shipped to them. Culture. They were inappropriate for a certain portion of the time I was there. The culture is “small town boomers.” I felt like I was hanging out in the living room of my grandpa’s house and when I had a question it was like them sighing about getting up out of their recliner. Better options. there are better options in the surrounding area including Edinburgh. If you can drive to Indianapolis or Louisville I would do that. I’ve had many more positive experiences at other card stores, even if they are small.
Pros: -Wide variety of both sports and non sports cards, memorabilia, funko pops, comics. you can find some good cards on the flat pricing. looks friendly, if you fit the culture, just not for me.
I hope they take the feedback to heart but I won’t be coming back...
Read moreTwo stars for huge inventory. If you need it, they probably have it. I visited twice in four days because I didn't have any other options in the neighborhood where we're visiting on a short getaway. First, I just needed a single card protector case for mailing in a graded card. I had to buy a 100 pack for 16$. I clearly let them know that I only needed one, and they were unwilling to budge on the quantity, even though it was clearly just a plastic bag filled with hand counted cases, not a factory packed package. They could have even offered to sell me half and it would have been a nice gesture. During my second visit today, I walked into the store to hear the owner and a pokémon player discussing the likelihood of a civil war breaking out in our country. Seemed unprofessional to say the least. I was trying to find an affordable blaster box in basketball for my son. Everything was significantly overpriced, like 150% at least. $10 packs selling for $15. 20 dollar boxes selling for $50... I guess maybe that's why they have such a huge inventory. I walked out. Columbus, be warned, you're getting ripped off....
