I've been attending this HIIT training gym five days a week and it's been an incredible experience. The variety of workouts is my favorite part - no two workouts are the same. My personal favorite is the total body Tabata.
What sets this gym apart is that all trainers provide modifications for both beginners and more advanced class participants. I'd like to highlight some of my favorite trainers: R.L Bowles, Jackie Geitz, Christopher Wood, Gracie Barnum, and Julia Gualtieri. These are the trainers who teach the classes I regularly attend, so I feel most informed to speak on their qualifications. This doesn't imply that other trainers aren't equally qualified or good.
R.L Bowles excels at demonstrating exercises at the beginning of the class and provides many variations of each move. He's very approachable and gives constructive feedback.
Jackie Geitz creates a fun environment with her amazing playlist and energetic presence. Her dance moves around the room are infectious. Once you attend one of her classes, you'll be hooked. Her Wednesday class is particularly popular.
Christopher Wood shows his dedication by offering corrections and improvements to individuals during class. His cardio & core class is challenging but fun! I always leave his classes feeling refreshed and free of outside worries.
Gracie Barnum is a powerhouse of energy and a great motivator. Sometimes she'll join you at a challenging station to keep you on track. The only downside is that she makes the exercises look so easy, which can make me a bit jealous!
Julia Gualtieri kicks off my week on Sundays. She does an excellent job of keeping the class motivated and provides great alternatives to challenging moves.
In conclusion, this gym offers a diverse range of workouts with skilled and caring trainers. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging and fun workout...
Read moreI love StudioTorch and would recommend it to anyone looking to get in a high intensity, strength based workout. The classes are a great mic of strength and cardio, and the circuit structure of many of the classes means you are never bored as there are always different movements packed in to a session!
Definitely a great way to challenge and push yourself- I always leave sweat drenched but euphoric from feeling my own strength and resilience. The instructors all seem knowledgeable and manage to give good form feedback despite sometimes big class sizes. I've had my form corrected a few times and it's so essential, because sometimes you feel you are doing the movement okay but won't know you're not until you're hurt. An extra set of eyes is important so that you can pay attention to how you're moving.
Despite the challenge, it's also welcoming. Instructors aren't going to hassle you if you can't safely do a movement, and are happy to offer alternatives. I sometimes have to stop for a few seconds during a hard class, and noone is shaming you or paying attention to anyone but themselves, so I feel there's a good range of skill levels represented.
My only critique is class size. Sometimes they are PACKED and there are not enough pieces of a particular weight equipment to go around (eg if you need a lower weight dumbell for an exercise, in the packed classes these are often taken.) I've also narrowly avoided being bumped/kicked due to crowding.
Otherwise, great facility and...
Read moreThese classes are great! I usually am not one that is big into workout classes but a friend brought me to my first one and now I am hooked. If you usually think workout classes are boring or aren't challenging enough I would definitely give studio torch a try. They are always a fun new workout with different movements and are challenging the whole time. Your heart rate will be up in your fat burning zone the whole time which I love. All the instructors I have encountered are great, they review every movement prior to class so you know what you are doing throughout the fast paced class. Another great feature is your can challenge yourself much or as little as you want, most of the workouts you can modify also there are many different weight levels to increase the intensity. They also have multiple different class times, which I really appreciate the flexibility of that. They have cubbies for your stuff with phone chargers so you can charge up during class. All classes are scheduled online which I think is so nice, one for the ease of sign up and 2 so the classes don't get overfilled. I really like the pre sign up because I have been to other workout classes before where you just have to get there super early to get a decent spot, with studio torch you never have to worry about it. They do not have showers, which honestly doesn't bother me at all, but something to...
