First time here. Few of us wanted to try it for lunch. A little pricey, but it is in Easton Mall. Gotta pay the building rent somehow. Self-ordering POS system is nice. Works well. Building and atmosphere are good. Food is not bad at all, but nothing to write home about either. Honestly felt like a Steak 'n Shake competitor with the irregular shaped, pressed beef hamburger patty. Like the difference between McD's and Burger King. Had a shake (it's in the name, so gotta try it). I'd rather have had one from Steak 'n Shake. For $5+, you get what would be a medium cup anywhere else. It was very full! No complaint there. But it could have come out of any milkshake machine from just about anywhere else and I would not have noticed a difference. Did they find the original McD's shake machine from when it was here before Tesla? ;) Good. Not great. Pricey. Fries, skip 'em. Thought the crinkle cut fries would be awesome. Far from it. Not good texture. Not hot either. Probably why they're one of the cheapest menu items @ 2.99. Got a Smoke Shack single burger. That was good! The chopped cherry peppers gave it some pizazz! Small regular hamburger bun. Definitely not large. Not great bang for the buck @ $8, but it tasted good. Single Burger, fries, and shake for dine-in was a little over $16 for one person. Ouch! For that price, I'd rather have gotten a burger and steak fries from Red Robin. Definitely would go back someday to give them a second chance. If you're already in the mall and hungry, it would be good. Just won't be my first choice of places to go if not already...
Read moreShake Shack has finally hit Columbus, and a second location is forthcoming. There was already one in Cleveland, but for me, that's a three hour drive for some burgers and shakes.
We were expecting a long wait given that it was Saturday evening and only their 6th day in operation, but it only took us 35 minutes to wait in line, order, and receive our food. The staff were extremely helpful. A young dude named Mohammad helped us find a table, wiped it down, and offered to get us some waters. Thanks, Mohammad!
I'm always leery of jumping on hype trains, but I tried Shake Shack while in DC, and the hype is well deserved. I've never been to a NYC location, but the Columbus location lives up to my experience from DC. Their burgers are legit, and you're not going to find a better fried chicken sandwich anywhere. Sorry, Chick-fil-A loyalists.
The fries start life frozen, but that's to be expected with crinkle cut fries. Although I'd prefer fresh cut fries, I'm not going to complain too much given that every batch is made to order, unlike some chains. cough McDonald's cough The fries were super crispy and delicious so, even though I prefer fresh cut, I was not disappointed.
For those people complaining about the price, we ordered two single burgers, a chicken sandwich, two orders of fries, and two shakes which came to something like $34. I'm perfectly fine with that. If you're going to complain about the cost of dining out, go buy a box of Hamburger Helper.
We will...
Read moreUpdate at bottom: You would be foolish to waste your time here. From the online ordering system, only an app, no footprint for the Easton store on their Web site and practically the worst Que system in the world, this was a nightmare. Online order, gives you a time when it should be done, found parking, not too difficult considering at Easton and then the clown cars and clowns came out when I stepped into the store. Walked into a hornet's nest of people, no idea where the online ordering line was, did get a text on my phone that my order was almost done, but alas, 20 minutes after that and 25 minutes late, I still was in line until someone up front behind the counter said, hey, anyone have an online order? Then watched that guy fumble with my phone and his cohorts and not fill my order correctly even though I was pretty sure he didn't, but trusted him and said nothing. Bad move. Not impressed with one thing in this store, no one smiled and the kiosk system for people walking in with their que line looked disorganized also. Cold food and wrong item, not impressed. Average food and average service, kinda like the roads around Cbus, you hit potholes every so often and this certainly is one of them. Jenis is near them, go there, at least you will satisfy your sweet tooth and you can try before you buy. I sent in a WTH e-mail to them and they responded in kind and liked the suggestion and wanted to win me back. Classy touch...
