The ambassadors (Pat and Maureen) were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was given a tour by Mrs. Pat who was kind enough to do so because I am a volunteer at the MS State Capitol.
The MS State Capital is of higher quality and much bigger but capital does have recent renovations that are very nice.
The grounds are beautiful and I actually saw a couple on blanket having a picnic. They are renovating gift shop. I was able to purchase pins thanks to Mrs. Vanessa.
The history of building and individual portraits are very interesting. Definitely peaked my curiosity. They also have a hall of governors on 2nd floor. The painting on first floor of Battle of Gettysburg is very nice and has a unique history of how it ended up in state house. It peaked my desire to visit Gettysburg, PA.
What I truly love about New Hampshire is that they have a system of checks and balances for all branches of government. The old way of politics which worked much better for the people and deterred corruption.
The first floor has flags that were carried during military battles. Some are very old but it’s so interesting that they keep and maintain.
What I really enjoyed was having opportunity to go into chambers. It is allowed when legislators aren’t in session. This is not allowed in MS State Capital.
I highly recommend touring this state house as it will leave you wanted to know more about New Hampshire’s history and those who served in...
Read moreI visited inside years ago and watched a debate take place on an issue. I don't know what it looks like inside now, but, the outside looks great with the golden dome shining in the sun or lights at night. The grounds look great and are popular. I've sat across the street at the Barley House and had dinner 🍲 outside with the State House for my view. I've had breakfast on a bench in front of the building. I've taken my kids. Christmas 🎄 display is nice. I hope to visit inside again one day. Update: Sunday evening 🌆, December 2021 &22; I still enjoy the Christmas 🎄 decorations and lights at night! Update; May 2024: Farmers Market has a great location next to the State House. Update: January - May 2025; Concord NH Winter ❄️ Fest. I brought my son to see 🙈 the creation of ice sculptures. We both found it interesting and we got to gently touch a few of the completed sculptures. So many statues of those who played a roll in history of either NH's , the United States' or both. Enjoyable visit in the Spring 🌼...
Read moreLived in New Hampshire all my life. I have never met so many close minded people representing my state. They vote down the train and allow the highways to get overcrowded and ridiculous. Rather than stay competitive, like other states, we are stuck in the 50s. Voting down the casino in Lee. Voting down cell phone towers in North Hampton, because two selectmen have their own little Agenda. I broke down out on the highway a few times over the years we used to have the move over No one cares anymore. Not even our police or officials instead of enforcing laws. You collect a pension and a paycheck. Pretty sad this beautiful live free or die state has become. Dumping ground for other problems from other states and their disrespect. Of the granite states, beauty dumping trash on the sides of the road in the forest with no consequences. You need to...
