I don't typically write negative reviews as I'm someone who wants to support local stores over Amazon, especially my local comic book and board gaming stores.
The problem occurs though when the people involved with local stores prove to be untrustworthy and uncommunicative.
Todd ran a campaign on Kickstarter "Along a Burning River Volume 2 - Stories of Ohio", which was originally expected to delivery a graphic novel with art entirely drawn by Ohio Artists. This graphic novel was supposed to be delivered in August 2022. The backers have yet to recieve this graphic novel. I can be understanding of delays, but the lack of communication is unproffessional and infuriating.
The last update Todd posted on Kickstarter was posted June 5, 2023, more than 20 months ago. That post indicated that the content was basically done, and we were waiting on design and layout. The last post prior to that was November of 2022, in which he apologized for the "long overdue update."
You might be asking yourself, why I'm writing a negative review for a brick and mortar store, when someone associated with the store was running a theoretically independent kickstarter to create a graphic novel. However, its clearly a related product, and Todds Kickstarter profile linked to multiple different social media accounts, and at least one of them mentions Nine Realms Comics and Gaming. Part of the reason I had for trusting Todd, was because of his association with Nine Realms.
This review feels like it might be unfair to the rest of the staff, as most of the people I know who work for or own a comic book store are wonderful, and interesting people. However, my experience with this one individual is so negative that I felt like I had to say something.

Read moreYou might not find this gem unless you're looking for it, tucked away in an unassuming shopping plaza. We'd been to the Cold Stone nearby half a dozen times since it opened and didn't believe Google maps when we asked for a nearby comic book shop for free comic book day. The ground floor is gaming and newer comic books and the upper floor is a delightfully creepy side room we were tempted to investigate but is probably just an office but also there's another room for shopping. That day it appeared to be older issues of comic books for under a dollar and shelves of vintage toys. They also had two great artists with original art...
Read moreI love picking miniatures for DnD here. The owner is so friendly, to both me and my son every time we go in. His prices are reasonable and we are always able to find some miniatures to paint. It also looks like he has an extensive comic book selection, but I'm not in that market.
He has both the officially licensed DND miniatures, as well as Reaper Bones, which gives such a great selection and...
