This store is absolutely HUGE. It has an enormous selection of books, music (CDs, vinyls, etc.), movies, games, and puzzles. The kids book area was absolutely full to the brim. In fact, it was VERY difficult to flip through the shelves because nearly every single shelf was stuffed completely full. I came here today to get some children's books, but I was shocked by the pricing. I could not for the life of me figure out how they were pricing the books. All the Dr. Seuss books were priced at $4.99 regardless of condition, but they're a mere $1 more brand new on Amazon. Definitely not even close to "half price". In fact, the more I checked prices on Amazon, the more astonished I was. About 80% of the time, buying the book on Amazon brand new would only cost you $1-2 more than buying it from this store. In some cases, Half Priced Books was charging $1-2 MORE than the cost of the book bought brand new. I only found a small handful of books that were ACTUALLY half priced, and I snagged them. However, the much smaller clearance section DID have some actual deals. Most the books in the clearance section were $1-3. That's where I got the most bang for my buck. Overall I was pretty disappointed. I thought I would save a lot of money, but this place should be renamed "Barely Discounted Books" or "$1 Off MSRP Books"

I dropped in to see if they had any new war documentaries. I didn't see them where they were normally kept. There was a stock person in the area and I asked where they were kept. The man claimed everything was now combined with the movies. I asked him again and he said everything is together. So I started out the door with nothing being bought and noticed nobody in the checkout counter. I approached the lady and asked the same question and she said she didn't know but would page someone. Here comes a lady from the back and she took me to where the war dvds are stocked. I would of given the store 5 stars based on how clean the store always is but they need to train people just a little better.

This is a terrible used bookstore. I brought a very nice book in and the girl said I couldn't get any money for it which was ok. She told me it would be donated so i left it. Upon leaving, my son looked in their dumpster and saw my book along with half of the dumpster filled with books in the garbage. The girl told me the book would be donated not thrown out. I went back into the store and askief why they threw it away they didn't have an answer. He said sometimes they get recycled. I said it was unacceptable. It wasn't donated or recycled. I would have brought it to a thrift store or church. The store should have been honest. Terrible wasteful practices.

Í would understand this type of rip-off , maybe a newbie that doesn't çollect books, or the value of some rare finds. If that were to happen,. then I would expect someone on staff would take notice and instead of hiding the value from a regular çustomer,. apologize to that one Faithful customer that shows up slow gray days, gets à cup of coffee, plays a round of Chess,, purchases gifts, a new cookbook on a regular basis. Not only that, this customer comes in at least 5 times a month, usually bringing in a few hardbacks that serious writers can get half-price and add to the beauty of thetr personal library, At 16 yrs old, I discovered sets of leather books. Literary works in sets of the novelist, was éxactly where I spent my time at, and my extra money, by the time I reached 45 yrs old, I had accumulated thousands of books. Then the last move we made north from the Valley Insisted that all my Library and shelves had to go or me go. Lugging the books upstairs took hours. My husband and 3 boys said no more. That I was behind the times and that now, e-books was the only way to go from there. A few years later, I did get tired of babysitting my collection of novels, Half price bookstore was a short city bus ride. I would go for the afternoon, and take books that I saw a need for. But one day, my heart was broken. To me, getting rid of a book was akin to a sad divorce. I had taken in a few normal books, but one was not only the Pulitzer Prize winner, but a historic interview and since I attended many book signings to write Feature Stories, as usual I got the autograph. The clerk looked at me that fateful day he rolled his eyes, and paid me . 50¢. He actually tuned me into an apologetic peon walking out with the change. Get over that crisis, go back the next week, and what do I spot, my book, perfect shape, showcasing the interview and autograph. It sat high up in a glass case! Extremely costly, so I go to the registers, clerks looking at me in PITY? The Manager acted clueless, and walked away. That was the last time I sold any of my books or graced their...

My experience as a buyer has been good (though I feel that the name implies a bigger savings than what actually exists). However, my experience as a seller was insulting (the buyer was a teenager who didn't want to be there, and I'm assuming was not really trained on actual scrutiny of books). I had a complete series of 25 books, 5 were paperback and 20 hardcover, and the face value was nearly four hundred and fifty dollars. I understood that when selling I would not get anywhere near what I had spent when buying them new. I did expect that their condition would equate to receiving more (they were in excellent, like new condition). I expected that because 3 of the titles were still on the NY times bestseller list, they would be worth a little more. The teenage buyer counted the books (I'm assuming that was the extent of her book review training) and told me she would give me eight dollars and fifty cents!!! There was no study of condition, no lifting the cover to see if any were first editions, or earmarked pages... I literally picked up my box of books (again, with a face value of $450) and walked out. Final word... If you are shopping for books, it will be cheaper than Barnes and Noble, but not by much. You will also not receive the customer service that Barnes...provides. It's a risk because they do not have a high inventory and your book will most likely not be in great condition. If you are selling, advertise on your local Facebook yard sale site or physically sell them at a real yard sale...you'll be able to set you own prices and even if you price at a dollar a piece, you're bound to make more than selling...
