Focal Point Photography — Local services in Dallas

Drove all the way down from Vancouver, BC to visit this store just from the reviews and recommendations that we read on-line. We were absolutely blown away by the incredible service that we received from Josh and his colleagues. First and foremost, they are friendly and incredibly easy to talk to and they listen to your questions. Second you can tell that they enjoy working in the photo business and have a real passion for it that is passed on to the consumer. Every question my wife had about her new a7iii was answered and anything they weren't sure of, they looked up so as to not give misinformation. If you are looking for new equipment, replacement parts or a few accessories, then I would not bother going to the big box stores. Focal Point has everything you need and at the same price as a big box store but with loads of expert advise and they genuinely love to hear your picture adventure stories to pass on to future customers. Would not consider buying anywhere else now. Will recommend this store to our friends so you may get a lot of Canadians travelling there in the future. Thank you again...

Focal Point Photography is my favorite camera store. It’s 15 miles west of Salem and worth the drive. They have a great selection of new & used gear. They may even buy your lightly used gear if it’s something they think they could sell. If you’re looking to buy used gear, it’s a safe place to do it because they carefully inspect it before they buy it. I sold a barely used mirrorless camera and a couple lenses to them yesterday. I’d rate the level of service from Nate (the owner) & everyone there an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Especially Nate, who goes the extra aisle providing above and beyond service. I’ve been shopping there for years since I learned about them from my local camera club. I’m very grateful for this gem. It’s like a candy store for photographers. WOW! WHAT a nice place to shop and do business at!

I had talked to Nate on the phone a day prior and based on that convo, decided to drive 130 miles to visit the shop in Dallas, OR the next day. There is nothing remotely similar where I live.

Ended up trading a crop-sensor DSLR camera body and two lenses for a "as new" (barely 500 snaps) full frame mirrorless and basically brand-new lens...a step up equipment-wise. Nate was courteous, knowledgeable and flexible and he was willing to haggle a little to where we reached a deal. I walked away quite satisfied and felt I got a great deal.

The shop is well-organized and they have LOTS of nice stuff in stock, along with a ton of "peripheral" items...filters, step up/down rings, you name it. Rest of staff was equally courteous and they also know their stuff as well based, on conversations and interactions I heard and saw with other customers.
