Unethical Commission Practices and Aggressive Sales Tactics: This Aritzia location opened recently, and I’ve had a concerning experience over 3 visits that suggests an unethical commission scheme among staff.
On my 1st visit, an employee repeatedly introduced herself and hovered around me while I was selecting items. She seemed to be trying to insert herself into my purchase, but I didn't ask for her assistance. At checkout, she lingered near the register, and although the cashier didn’t ask if anyone had helped me, it appeared that the employee was still credited for my sale, as her associate number was on my receipt. This felt frustrating, as her presence seemed more about influencing the sale for commission rather than providing genuine help.
On my 2nd visit, I left without buying anything because of similar pushy behavior from the staff. However, the most troubling incident occurred recently. While holding 3 shorts I picked out myself, a slim blonde employee named Jen introduced herself repeatedly and tried to make small talk, even though I clearly said I was just looking. She insisted on showing me shorts I had no interest in, which I declined. After trying on my selections, I noticed Jen searching for me in the store, prompting me to hide behind a mirror to avoid more pressure. I even overheard another customer’s boyfriend say, "Why do these women chase everyone? It’s ridiculous." This echoed my frustration with the aggressive sales tactics.
At checkout, the cashier asked if Jen helped me, and I stated clearly that no one assisted with my purchase. However, when I looked at my receipt later, I saw Jen’s associate number entered, implying she received commission for my purchase. This was misleading and unethical. Jen did not assist me in any way, yet she was credited for my sale. This feels like an attempt to earn commission through dishonest means, while pressuring customers into uncomfortable interactions.
It’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing to feel like I can’t shop without being hounded by employees trying to rack up sales, especially when the store’s management should be ensuring fair and honest commission practices. I hope the management will address this issue and work to provide a more respectful shopping experience where customers can shop in peace without being pressured into interactions that feel fraudulent.
The store has potential, but this kind of behavior will drive customers away. I won’t be returning, and I’d encourage others to be cautious when...
Read moreThe worst experience ever. Not only do the sales associates follow you around to the point where you're uncomfortable but they literally grabbed the coat my daughter was carrying out of her arms once she said she was purchasing it.....and brought it to the cashier's desk.....my daughter was taken aback they way it was literally ripped from her hands. Then when we actually wanted customer service there was no one to talk to....they're all walking around with headsets talking to God knows who....not to mention the music is horrible and the on line customer service is horrible as well. This is just a store.....nothing more yet they act "holier than thow".....like it's your privilege to be allowed in the store. No thanks....I'll shop elsewhere. Tell your phone customer service reps they need to be trained in customer service because they are...
