We rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours and had a great time! We visited Crab Island and also the Okaloosa shore where we found lots of crabs, fish, and some long legged birds (herons, I think?). Crab Island was interesting to experience, with floating shops and little motored food rafts. We got shaved ice - so fun! The pontoon boat itself was fine. Not new & shiny but clean, and no issues. The staff was friendly and accommodating, working around our schedule, and loading our belongings onto the boat for us. They held a parking spot for us, and parking was free. They provided nice new puddle jumpers for our child. One improvement I might suggest is chairs in better condition at the rental hut. Our 40 lb child started to step onto one to see on top of the bar-height table and was firmly told not to. I’m guessing it was because the chair looked like it might break. Destin Boat Shack is awesome! Booking was super quick and easy. The directions we received prior to our reservation were very simple, but thorough. Half of our group were visiting from NC and the other half are locals that have previously rented from other providers in the area; they said it was by far the best boat rental experience they've had! Karl (with a K) was very friendly, helpful, and courteous! He greeted us at our cars, transported all of our bags/coolers to the boat, ensured we had everything we needed/wanted, answered all our questions (even the ones we didn't know we had), and gave us some great tips on the best locations to anchor down around Crab Island. Wonderful service and very attentive! Destin boat shack was able to get us out on the water after we had made a scheduling mistake with another boat company. He offered us a paddleboard and was excellent! The owner & Zach (great deck hand) helped us load and unload our stuff and got us on our way to crab island quickly! He’s a great guy and eager to help you and your family have a great day of boating! He made the checkin process a breeze with a quick video of the boat rather than walking through and marking it. We were on the water in just a few minutes! Love this place, will definitely use again!
