MiMi Asian Mart — Local services in Fairbanks

Cute store but me and my husband and two kids were wandering around looking at what they offer and the ENTIRE time we were in there, one of the owners kept following us around, staring us down, acting like we were going to steal something. We don’t look homeless, we weren’t sneaky in anyway, have no backpacks, I didn’t even have my purse, and we were respectful of everything, including telling our children not to touch anything. We gave them no reason for this reaction besides, being white? I don’t know any other reason. Our kids were more than well behaved and yet we were treated like criminals with NO reason. Mimi Asian Mart is an absolute treasure! Whether you’re looking for authentic Asian ingredients, fresh produce, or hard-to-find snacks, this place has it all. They also have a wide selection of Japanese/Korean skincare products. The store is well-organized, clean, and packed with a wide selection of items and toys.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful—they’re always happy to answer questions or offer suggestions. Plus, the prices are very reasonable considering the location. It's honestly the best place in Alaska for Asian groceries.

My wife and I were excited to visit this little mart but once we arrived it was super unwelcoming, we were being followed around the store by an employee. When we initially walked in the employee walked from behind the counter as if she was going to greet us but instead she followed us for 5 minutes fixing chip bags and candy.
