The way I've wasted my time and money because of this location's mistakes. They miscanned something I purchased (I was buying a bunch of blinds and they scanned the wrong size) and misprinted my receipt so it couldn't be read at any other location.
I ended up needing to return some of them because I didn't measure correctly. The cashier was very kind and managed to find my order but then she called over another lady when the exact product couldn't be found (because they messed up when I checked out). The second woman went to talk to a manager and left me there for half an hour before coming out and telling me nothing could be done. I was ready to accept this, donate the blinds and eat the ~$100 I was out but then she said I couldn't leave with them because they weren't on the receipt! I realize this is an odd situation, but just because the store uses the same lane for purchases and returns doesn't mean they should assume someone is stealing something just because an employee didn't see them walk in with a return. I was shocked and angered to be treated like that and to have things I bought taken from me. I'm sorry to be a Karen about this, but it really was the worst retail...
Read moreIf you want flash, or steel shelving stacked to the ceiling with fork lifts, or even 2 shopping carts that match each other, WRONG PLACE. This Ollie's is about 50,000 sq ft of buy outs, seconds and overstocked merchandise from wholesalers and other retailers. The basic departments are there. Foods (no cold foods), toys, HBA, tools, housewares, rugs, lamps, cookware, sheets, etc. As far as what particular items are there on one particular day of the week, well, that's the appeal of this place. You never know what's going to be there, but count on 2 things. The merchandise is good and the price is cheap. Damn cheap. This is NOT a scratch and dent. All the products are A-1. The food stuff is all in date (not expired) and it's all fine to give your family. They specialize in buying up what other retailers simply don't have room for anymore, therefore it gets purchased very cheap, at a huge loss to the other retailer, then that cheap price is passed onto you. It's lots of fun to shop there, you save a ton on what you can use, but this store is not for the faint of heart. Adventurous people only! And...
Read moreLocated in the corpse of my childhood Toys R Us, Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Glen Burnie is an experience like no other. In order to enter the store, you must walk down a dark passageway that is littered with leaves from overgrown, decorative trees from the old mall. When you enter Ollie's, you will undoubtedly be charmed by the Ollie themed artwork that adorns the walls. A few standouts are Ollie as tinker bell, Ollie standing next to a knockoff Mickey Mouse, and my personal favorite--Ollie as an Irish stereotype. The book section will enthrall you with classics like the Hardy Boys Manga (yes, it does exist) and enough Bibles to fill a church. There are aisles and aisles of mysteriously sourced food, and once you get through them, you will reach the real treasure of Ollie's: the rug section. So many rugs. So little time. I would recommend this Ollie's to anyone who wishes to further immerse themselves in the Glen Burnie lifestyle. The rest of the Glen Burnie mall may be a memory, but Ollie's is surely...
