Rent-A-Center — Local services in Flagstaff

I moved to Flagstaff with my kids and didnt know anyone to help me move used furniture and so stupidly I went to rent-a-center to get furniture quick with little money upfront. The sales person told me $3.17 for the first month which turned out to be $165 a week later. That’s is expected but the lady completely lied initially to get me to rent the couch that day! Caught off guard a week later I made the $165 payment.

Months later I decide paying $165/month to rent a couch is way too expensive and I’d rather buy a used couch for that or maybe two times the cost of the monthly rent and have one of my new neighbors help me move it in. My business is slow and renting isn’t feesable anymore. I spoke to Ryan the General Manager and arranged pickup a few days later between the hours of 2-6. Well... despite our scheduled time Ryan went to my apartment while my children were home alone (and not allowed to open the door to strangers) pounded for 15 minutes as if he was the police yelling “Flagstaff police, open the door!” My kids called me scared and so did my neighbor. My daughter said the man didn’t look like a police officer and had on an RAC shirt. He impersonated a police officer to try and get them to open the door!! This is completely disgusting! My neighbor was furious! My children were tertified!! And then to top it all off he lied to me on the phone and said he was telling them he was on the phone with the police. My neighbor and all three children confirmed that he was saying he was the Flagstaff police. Why he was at my apartment impersonating a police officer to my children is beyond me especially when it was days away from our SCHEDULED...

So I just want people to know that rent a center will not give you all the information about what you owe if they don’t have too, I have been making half payment on my Xbox for almost 8 months without any of the workers telling me that they were only half payments, the kid tried to say that they do, but they absolutely do not, do not go to rent a center for anything, they will get every bit of money out of you before ever thinking about the customers , terrible terrible business. While I was waiting for my new card to come in the mail, the two associates I talked to did not mention that I would be charged a late fee after a certain amount of time.

I went straight over the moment I activated my card, and they wouldn’t remove the late fee. During phone conversations they could have mentioned cash or other alternatives to avoid late payment.
