My daughter had her 13th birthday party Escapology Escape Rooms Gainesville. It was absolutely fantastic! The people there were beyond kind and helpful.
Her party was scheduled for Friday and I knew it could possibly be canceled because of the hurricane. The owner, Ruth, called me on Wednesday to talk about my options. Even though they were planning to be closed on Friday, she offered to personally come in on Friday to open just for my daughter’s party (weather and safety permitting). She also talked over other time slots that were available if Friday didn’t turn out to be an option. I know a birthday party is very small in the wake of a hurricane, but I greatly appreciated the unsolicited care and forethought. I didn’t just feel valued as a customer, I felt like they truly cared about my daughter’s celebration.
On Friday they ended up opening their usual business hours so the party goes ahead as planned.
Upon arriving, Katie (assistant manager) took care of us and was so incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The decor is definitely neat throughout the entire building. The decor in itself is an experience.
The party room was great! Plenty of chairs and a table with great space. We were provided with access to a full fridge, real silverware, glasses, and plates (real as in, not disposable), and a TV with Netflix, Disney+, etc. available. We were able to bring whatever food/drinks we wanted to serve.
I had eight 12-13 year old girls who went into the escape room. Their game master, Eric, was very helpful and the girls mentioned how nice he was. If 12-13 year olds say something positive about you, that’s says a lot. Meanwhile, Katie gave me updates on their progress and fun level while I watched a movie in peace in the party room until they got out.

We have completed every room here at the Gainesville location, and several at the Orlando location. Every experience has always been a 5/5 until tonight. We were playing the Lost City room tonight, all the employees were just as friendly as can be, some even recognized our faces and welcomed us back. While in the room (which was awesome) we were going right along, getting hints as needed, and (trying to avoid spoilers) got to the last stage and there was a malfunction with the final puzzle where the answer was revealed before completing the puzzle. Which honestly isn’t a big deal, it was almost over and it wasn’t a huge thing. BUT, this is where things get hairy, our game master informed us that we broke the last puzzle by forcing it (we didn’t) and then asked who opened the latch and proceeded to tell our player that they should be kicked out and that we broke the room. I’m not sure if it was poorly delivered sarcasm or what but it left us feeling a little jaded and spoiled the victory of the room. I’m hoping that our next experience here erases this memory and leaves us, once again loving Escapology. Read moreHonestly , this was a terrible experience . Due to traffic and having a 3 year old we were running late . The first thing mentioned is “we are going to dock you 10 minutes “. Explaining the situation to the manager Katie she responded by “well honestly on our website it says to arrive 15 minutes early”. My very blatant response was over $150 for 60 minutes , I am want the 60 minutes and will reschedule . Rudeness , condescending comments followed . Making it sure to the to continue ( throughout the entire experience) make everyone on our group feel unwelcomed and a bother . And where there is no proof being able to be provided, the hints we were given were from past things we had already found and very unclear . Again, not saying it’s connected but we were , overall, treated awfully so it’s worth putting in a review. This is also the second time we’ve come in contact with Katie who has , honestly , made it feel like we are doing her a favor by even coming to this establishment. Lastly , at the end of our experience on the hint screen popped up “they were honestly lost the entire time in this room” and “oh my b” . We were told that was not meant for us however clearly indicating the unprofessionalism that exist in the establishment in itself .
