As a new home owner, I’ve been shopping a lot lately at Home Depot and have probably spent over $3,000 in less than a week and not to mention I’m a credit card member with them now. Most of my experience while shopping has been adequate but a couple things truly trouble me.
Every time I ask for the veteran discount I get weird looks and it feels like I’m silently being judged/discriminated against due to my age even after I present an idea that is stamped by the state indicating I’m a vet. This has happened at almost every store I’ve been too for Home Depot stores.
My experience at my nearby Home Depot today was horrific. Most of the people there are friendly and helpful but today I got a really nasty taste off of an associate that worked there. An older gentlemen who worked in lumber in the Greenfield, IN 2055 Barrett Drive. He was extremely rude, didn’t seem to want to help. When I asked to borrow a measuring tape he refused. I mentioned I was a veteran during a conversation and he scoffed. Because I was dressed in nicer attire for a dinner I came back from, he gave the impression that I was young and stupid and didn’t know what I was talking about. Because of his behavior, tone of voice, lack of customer service, it turned me away from completing a $400 project.
Right now I’m quite disappointed in the prejudice I receive due to my age and appearance of my age, and style of clothes I wear. If this is the experience I have to expect from Homedepot in the future and on future purchases, I will be cancelling my card, writing a letter to the BBB and speaking with the media about my concern of profiling at this location. Currently I am considering on moving towards a different shop such as menards, Lowe’s.
I would like to receive an apology from the manager of the store and repercussions of time wasted and raised anxiety due to the toxicity of the employee there. I struggle and I am diagnosed and on medication for anxiety so when people are being rude it makes me feel much more uncomfortable and puts my health at risk!

Read moreIf you want to deal with a wife crying out of frustration let them handle your next big project. We ordered off the shelf cabinets around 9/16. It was kind of implied that they would be faster to arrive as they're not custom cabinets, unsure if we were mistaken and I'll give the associates the benefit of the doubt and say we misheard around 18 days for delivery. Regardless we dismantled our kitchen prior to receiving the cabinets so we could be prepared for installation. Delivered finally on 10/28. I understand logistics are difficult these days, and good help is hard to find, but half the cabinets were shipped on the pallet upside down, so we had a few broken. Immediately started trying to get replacements. We were told the process was started. A few weeks came and went, so we reached out. "They have to wait for a full truck before they ship them to the store." then more time passed and it became "It'll be on the next truck, we can see the shipping number" we were told it would arrive the following Monday. That was over two weeks ago. All we've received is "I'll e-mail and call you when we finally get them". Here we sit without a floor, because we need to put the cabinets in prior to that, and having rescheduled the counter top folks no less than 3 times. All I have to show for it is near 8000 dollars spent and no product. Just a lot of "Don't call us, we'll call you". Staff are very friendly though, no complaints about the people, just Home Depot has turned to garbage, the only reason we went with them is because they USED to have a really great veteran discount and I was loyal to them. If you have a big project, go with Lowes or Menards. Honestly, save yourself...
Read moreMy visit today on 8/10/2025 was a really pleasant trip. Whenever I want to go to a store like this, I always choose this Home Depot. Today I was looking at price checking some items like Brass Fittings and Black Steel Pipes along with some other items. While using the restroom I came across a very lovely lady and we had a big ol’ discussion about her earrings and the different tattoos. I asked what aisle the items were down and directed me towards the direction that they would be in. Once I found the aisle I was approached by a great gentleman by the name of Roger who asked if he could help me find anything. I told him what all I was looking for. We talked for a great amount of time and he was very informative and interested in the project I was telling him about. Before we parted he mentioned that when I come back that he would like to see some photos. I told him probably more than likely after I get it finished; I would bring it in for him to check out. If anyone was wondering what that was; sometimes I use a cane and some times I use a Rollator. The project I’m making is a Steampunk Version of a Rollator for when I go to Ohio Renaissance Festival next year during Time Travelers Weekend. I would like to have it for this year but the deadline of getting it done by that specific weekend is way too tight for my comfortability because I want this to look splendid and not a rushed job. I can’t wait to get it finished so I can do an updated post showing off that Steampunk Rollator to Richard(hopefully if he’s still there that day). Very happy & satisfied...
