A Jacuzzi room with a King-size bed... And after a 12 hour leg of a road trip? Ohhh yeahhhh! But wait... Having stayed in a lot of hotel rooms over the years, I've learned to check for signs of little critters living in the beds and other general cleanliness. When we got in this room we were exhausted. Checked the bed, found a couple tiny brown dots on two corners - under an encasement. That prompted us to almost leave right then but... We we're exhausted. So we did a thorough check of the bed seams and furniture and such. Since we didn't find any further signs, I called down to the front and the manager assured me they had never had trouble with bedbugs or the like. So we decided to chance it. Settling in, we fired up the jaccuzi... Out comes yellow water. We let it run awhile but not only did it stay yellow but the heat went lukewarm. Bummer. So shower only - okay, so be it. Unfortunately, that was lukewarm as well. Top it off with finding a couple of pill bugs near the AC and a spider taking a stroll along the cracked exterior of the jaccuzi and we felt - "a little crowded". Not to be unfair and whiney - the night clerk was pleasant and helpful (told us where to get pizza delivery, told us they had a Pepsi machine but their restock order for it was a week late, and he was generally a nice guy). It is now 4 am as I write this. I'm having some trouble sleeping. The bed is large and nice and broken in - springy - but not too uncomfortable. I think maybe just those other things might have me concerned. Hopefully, we'll find no little hitch-hikers coming along with us. Maybe the breakfast in the morning will be incredible. At least the TV is large and has HBO - so I'll watch a bit of a show and hopefully doze off for a couple hours. I really need the rest. Another 10 hours of driving to come! If things get better and the breakfast kicks-butt - I'll update this post. To surmise for now: with all the good reviews, I expected better. I've seen worse... And I've seen better. UPDATE: It is now 8 am. Woke to find one of those little centipede-looking critters running through the room. Tried to take a shower - no hot water at all. That's it. I'm out. Really not happy with this place. Bummer. Better luck next time...
Read moreA stopover for the night. This location is right off I70 in a busy shopping and dining area. There are many options, most of which you will need to drive to get food or gas from this hotel. However the Cracker Barrel is just a few steps away. I stayed here twice during my trip. I found the hotel and room always to be exceptionally clean! Another one of those hotels which has undergone refurbishment in the past few years and the paint and interior decor have been updated. The furniture did have scratches and the carpet, a few stains. My double queen room had a microwave and a very large compact refrigerator along with a large screen tv. Channel options on the tv were many and the WiFi worked flawlessly. The bed was like many I have slept in with this range of hotel, not quite firm, but not quite soft either. If you are older you might find yourself with a few aches and pains in the morning. My complaints about the stay. The coffeemaker was in the bathroom beside sink...not the most hygienic place for it. They did have a desk in room but not much other flat space for putting things on. The shower pressure was adequate but not all that powerful. The toilet was set so low to floor I thought it had to be a kid height. Maybe good for them...me...not so much. There is no place to hang wet towels. If they want us to be green provide ways to hang towels for reuse. Breakfast had the usual cold options, bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal etc. Hot options included link sausage and scrambled eggs along with waffles. However when I asked at check- in if I could get coffee before 6AM I was told coffee was available 24 hours. When I tried to get coffee at 5AM I was chased away and told I could not have, and then they blocked it off. If really available before 6 then put coffee outside of breakfast area. I would...
Read moreMy fiance called to book a block of rooms for our wedding at the Comfort Inn in Greenfield, IN months ago. The lady on the phone took down all of our requests and contact information and assured us we were reserved. However, when our guests began calling to reserve rooms they claimed they did not have any rooms reserved. Confused, our guests began to contact us.
My fiance called the Comfort Inn immediately and spoke with the manager, Meghan I believe, to resolve the issue. All she did was repeat the unhelpful phrase "sorry, there's nothing I can do." She did not offer alternatives, compensation, or even attempt to reserve even a few rooms for our event. The only excuse she made was they have been training new people in the past few months. However, there was another group they managed to block rooms for the same weekend as our wedding!
Frantic, my fiance began calling other hotels in the area. Thankfully, the Quality Inn went out of their way, made exceptions, and is working with us to block rooms for our wedding. A big THANK YOU to them! Also, she left a message with the Hampton Inn asking to reserve rooms. They called back a couple hours later and while they did not have any availability, they did offer several contact numbers for us to try.
I have nothing to say about the Comfort Inn facilities as I have never stayed there and now never will. They have created a very stressful situation for me, my fiance, and wedding guests after they made a huge mistake and did nothing to help correct this error.
My advice: take your business to hotels in the area who actually care about...
