Itās been enough time where I can leave this review without being too emotional about it - but I had a terrible experience at this salon. I paid $500 and came out crying for the money wasted, with my friends not even seeing a difference in my sad hair. I wanted color dimension added, which came out not noticeable at all (wish I just paid for a one color gloss in that case). I paid extra for a conditioning treatment- yet they immediately washed it out of my hair as opposed to letting it sit. My hair felt dry and terrible when I left the Salon, and my 2 at-home conditioning treatments is what brought it back to normal. The girl who brushed my hair while wet was ripping at my hair- I cringed as any hairdresser should know to avoid ripping through wet hair with a comb. I expected a Salon with high prices in Fairfield county to feel like a luxury experience- but it was far from that - no drinks were even offered to me. My appointment was also messed up by the front desk who scheduled me at the wrong location (I had confirmed location on the phone and was ignored), so a hair dresser who was not supposed to do my hair, did me a āfavorā to fit me into their schedule at the location I showed up at. Because of this, I tipped the full amount and didnāt complain since this might have had a lot to do with my poor experience. I am said that I am too reluctant to go back and give this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis salon just isnāt what it used to be. For years, walking into Color CafĆ© felt warm, light, and welcoming the kind of place where everyone was friendly and you truly felt at home. Since their move to the new location, I think many of us were hoping for something bigger and better, but unfortunately it feels like the standards have gone down.
Parking is a hassle, and the new space is much smaller and cramped. It often gets so crowded that itās hard to even have a conversation with your colorist/stylist the noise echoes everywhere, and there arenāt any sound buffers to soften it. On busy days, the salon is packed to the brim with nowhere to sit to blow dry your hair which is really disappointing.
As much as it pains me to say this, after decades of getting my color and cuts here, Iāll be moving on. The heart and atmosphere that once made this salon so special just isnāt there anymore.
Iām posting under an alias because I know the owner, Kim, has a habit of digging into reviews and discussing them with other professionals, which makes sharing honest feedback...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been seeing Kim for my color for 10 years now. I'm almost 100% gray so I get my base color done and also highlights with foil or balayage, depending upon the look I am after. I am not easy to please and I have been happy with my color and have never strayed. Ashley who has trained under Kim for as long as I have known Kim is also an amazing colorist. I see her as well for my color. For the people that have ended up disappointed I don't know what to say. Sometimes communicating what color you want can be interpreted different ways, I think it's always best to show a photo and really communicate what it is that you want. Be clear. And in the end if you feel that you wished your color was a little darker or lighter, tell them, they are so nice and accommodating. I really love all the women that work here. Oh and Lexi is a doll and gives a...
