I’ve been to Guitar Guys on several occasions based on positive reviews. They have a nice selection of guitars and equipment, however their customer service is something left to be desired!!! I was there about a month ago and I waited around 15 minutes for one of the two employees working to get me down a $3000.00 Taylor acoustic to play. I played the guitar for about 20 minutes, hung it back up, discussed buying it with my wife while we walked around the store and not once did either employee ask me if I had any questions or even what I thought of the guitar. There was only one other person inside the store who wasn’t being helped, so my wife and I walked out. Today my wife and I drove over an hour and a half back to Guitar Guys and were in around 11am. Again, two employees were standing behind the counter and we didn’t even get so much as a “Hello!!!” Again, only one other person was inside the store. I had the cash on hand to buy the guitar, but as my wife and I walked around the store looking around we have decided to take our business elsewhere!!! At least when we walked into a Sam Ash or a Guitar Center we were always acknowledged with a “Hello and is there anything your are looking for in particular???” I’ll stick to dealing with Sweetwater Music, at least they email and telephone me after I make a purchase no matter how big or small to thank me for my business. Guitar Guys you lost over a $3000.00 sale today for failing to do the most basic thing while working retail!!! All you had to do was provide some customer service!!! We...
Read moreFirst and foremost, if you're not shopping at Guitar Guys, you're wrong. Everything is great, and you get a personal touch unlike big-box retailers who are just out to make a commission. These guys truly care about their customers, and their prices are great too.
Now for the long winded response... I've been playing guitar for the better part of 20 years. I've purchased guitars, amps, accessories, etc. from these guys. They even custom ordered an oddball Schecter Reaper 7 multi-scale for me. They've also worked on a few of my guitars to include a problematic Kiesel piezo pickup that died. Guitar Guys went above and beyond to help me get that piezo replaced with a much better option when Kiesel wouldn't lift a finger! That's not the first time they've helped me with some electronics in a guitar. I'm prior service and have spent some time deployed. I always tried to bring an el-cheapo guitar with me when I could. In 2009, while deployed in Afghanistan, my el-cheapo guitar pickups just died. Long story short, I was able to ship my guitar back to my folks from halfway around the world. The guys at Guitar Guys fixed it up THE SAME DAY, and it was back in my hands a week later in Afghanistan... crazy! I've had Amazon packages take longer.
The level of care from Guitar Guys is not normal. We're spoiled to have such an amazing music shop in the local area. Keep your money local! Shop with...
Read moreSuper friendly staff! I am not a musician, but needed a set of drumsticks in a pinch, and this music store was the closest to me by several miles (and a ton of traffic). I called in advance to see if they had them in stock, and was quickly given an "of course we do!". Asking what time they closed, they told me 5pm. It was 440pm and I was 20+ minutes away. I told the guy I would put my foot in it and get there ASAP.
I arrived at around 5:02pm, just to find him meeting me at the door with a smile. He stayed after waiting for me...for a set of $10 drumsticks. He didn't have to, but he did. I have had stores close/lock doors in my face before.
Not being a musician, I can only say that I was surprised at the variety of the inventory in a smaller, local store. If I ever need to visit a music store again, will go here due...
