Love Abercrombie and I order online often and was so excited for one to open in Hoboken. However the girls working at this store need serious customer service training. Between the three having a pow wow planning birthday party themes while only one register is being used and there’s a five plus person line building… to finally getting to the register and them not honoring the prices signed on the table. There was a sign saying skirts 40% off.. and one skirt type in 3 colors on the table.. when it rang up at 20% off I mentioned the sign says 40%.. to which one girl did try to help and checked the sign and agreed with me.. while the other became combative saying it is only one color.. yet again no mention of that on the signs or the tags.. just said “skirts 40% off”. Usually if only one color is on sale it’s moved to a sale rack and tagged with the sale price.. not on table with all the other colors and a general sign with no notations on the tags. Extremely rude interaction, extremely unprofessional, absolutely zero social skills by anyone working.. would strongly recommend training the staff at this store or quite honestly hiring new staff because the staff at other stores (short hills nj) are always helpful professional and kind. The staff here needs...
Read moreI went to this location to exchange an item for a smaller size. The store did not have the size in the color I originally purchased in a week prior so I picked up the color I needed in the other color the top was made in. When I asked to exchange the tops, the male cashier did it as a return for the item I previously purchased and then called a manager over for the exchange as he did not know how to effectuate the exchange in the system. I had purchased the original top a week prior and at a sale price, and when I asked the manager to price match as the cashier had done the transaction as a return and then purchase instead of an exchange of equals, CLAIRE, told me that I could not receive an exchange for the same price/price match as the top was not in the same color I purchased in even though it was the same exact top. I would have purchased the same color top if they had it in stock, which they did not. When I asked CLAIRE to identify where this policy was, she could not point to any policy and I even went to the website and could not find anything stating the same. I’ve never had this issue at any Abercrombie store and it seems like this staff needs more training on...
Read moreI’m writing this from the fitting room line—which is ironic, given that’s also how I spent the majority of my only other time in this store.
The selection is fine; the layout is cramped but workable. What is a problem, per the above, is the staff’s routine reluctance to open the second set of fitting rooms, particularly on weekends, when there’s a long wait and, by my last count, four staff milling around the register. What compounds this issue is the surly, distant attitude that’s adopted when you ask them if it’s possible to open said additional rooms, and for them to breezily say, no, these are the only ones open, as you enter your tenth minute carrying 15 pounds of denim and linen-blend skorts.
Is there perhaps an adult who could come and effectively manage this store, and teach their charges a thing or two about customer service? Till then, I’ll cure my Sunday ennui over at Madewell, where the service is a little less...
