NOMAR — Local services in Homer

I’ve done a lot of business with Nomar over the years regarding their brailer bags and really like them for the most part. This spring when I tried to put four of my custom made $225 brailers into my boat in remote Alaska days before the season opener they were the wrong size. After contacting them about it; instead of sending me replacements in the correct size they asked me to mail them back before they’d send me the correct bags. After I told them that wasn’t an option because the season opener was just days away, they just said sorry and that they’d give me $25 off future bags. Sending them in at the end of the season wasn’t an option either. Very disappointed in their answer and the toughness of their bags. I seem to only get a couple years out of them before they develop holes along the seems, or from abrasion on other parts of the bag. I’ve decided to take future...

I have worked with Nomar on a number of boat canopy projects in past, and they have consistently done a great job at a fair and reasonable price. A number of years ago they built a complete custom canopy over the back my 24 foot Bayliner Classic. Incredible job/quality work! Sold that boat and onto the next. Two years ago I purchased as 26 foot/10 ft beam refurbished 26 ft Glasply, which I recently re-motored to a newer/larger Suzuki 4 stroke. A few weeks ago they built a custom cover over my electrical wiring behind the dash (which is also the "head" in my boat). There work was quick, very well-done, and reasonably priced. Bought high end duffel bag made out of rain proof material. Well, the price is high end but the duffel bag is just rain resistant...kinda. Went moose hunting and was staying in a crowded cabin. I said, "I can throw my NOMAR duffel bag outside because it's NOMAR made, and made of water proof material. Next morning my clothes were soaked. NOMAR is the Under Armour of outdoor clothing. Flashy but no substance. Buy a dry bag if you want dry clothing. Actually for the price you pay for the NOMAR you can buy a lot of dry bags. Why would you even have water resistant? So...
