After many years of travel I have found that most businesses are empathetic to last minute cancellations that are out of your control. But not Hawaii Tee Times - they are more than happy to take advantage and profit from customer's misfortune.
Our recent December 2021 trip to Hawaii was disrupted by an airline flight cancellation, leaving us no way to get to the islands. We had numerous advance bookings and every one except Hawaii Tee Times was understanding of the situation and waived cancellation penalties. But not Hawaii Tee Times, who had already charged our credit card and had their funds. We knew when we booked that they had a 15% nonrefundable processing fee up to 24 hours prior to tee time and 100% thereafter, but could not anticipate any reason why we would cancel so we went ahead with the reservation anyway.
If you find yourself in that situation - think again! Airline cancellations are becoming more commonplace and you could left holding the bag as we were. When we called to cancel, Hawaii Tee Times was unsympathetic to our situation, giving us the option of losing the 15% processing fee or allowing the full amount of funds to be held for a future reservation. Well, since Hawaii is not an easy travel destination and there is no certainty whether Hawaii Tee Times will even be in business when a future trip becomes possible, the only practical option was to give up the 15%.
There are many golf reservation businesses in Hawaii so I suggest you do some research before booking with Hawaii Tee Times - who always seems to come up first in an internet search - and then consider what if an involuntary cancellation such as ours occurred. We also contacted the golf course, who advised they had a no-penalty cancellation policy and would not receive any of the fees collected by Hawaii Tee Times in this circumstance, so this was a 100% profit to Hawaii Tee Times by taking advantage of a...
Read moreHawaii Tee Times has been a game-changer for my frequent golf trips to the islands. With an easy-to-navigate website and a comprehensive list of courses, it’s a one-stop shop for any golf enthusiast looking to play in Hawaii.
The variety of courses available is impressive, from the world-famous greens in Maui to the lesser-known but equally beautiful courses in Oahu and Kauai. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer looking for a challenging course or a beginner seeking something more forgiving, Hawaii Tee Times provides a range of options to suit all skill levels.
One of the standout features of this service is the competitive pricing. I’ve managed to snag some last-minute deals that were significantly cheaper than the rates offered directly by the courses. Plus, the site often runs special promotions and discounts, providing even more value.
Customer service is another strong point. On the one occasion I needed to change my booking due to weather conditions, the process was hassle-free, and the representative was both accommodating and knowledgeable.
That said, there’s room for improvement. While the site does offer descriptions and photos of the courses, I would love to see user reviews or ratings to help make more informed decisions. Also, it’s worth noting that while most bookings go off without a hitch, availability can be limited during peak seasons, so planning ahead is advised.
In summary, Hawaii Tee Times offers a convenient and cost-effective way to book your golfing experience in Hawaii. While there’s a minor drawback in terms of user-generated content, the overall service is exceptional, making it a go-to resource for anyone looking to hit the links...
Read moreMy experience with Hawaii Tee Times was flawless. Their rate was less than other third party services (ie. TeeOff), I went to the course and showed them the e-mail I got from Hawaii Tee Times and there were no issues. It does appear though based on other reviews that if you have to cancel that it might be an unpleasant situation but there shouldn't be any surprises either if everything is stipulated in their terms & policies.
Thus, my recommendation would be to maybe book a few days in advance instead of several days or a month out (so that you have a better idea of weather conditions and possibility of trip cancellation) and also book a tee time a couple of days after your arrival (if you're a tourist) to account for potential unforeseen circumstances, which was what...
