Our sunset cruise with Pink Sails Waikiki was one of the most memorable and peaceful highlights of our trip to Oʻahu. We were lucky to score a great deal, and it truly delivered above and beyond our expectations.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the friendly and professional crew, who gave a clear, helpful rundown of the plan, safety rules, and what to expect on this magical ride into the Hawaiian sunset.

Let’s talk about the catamaran—a beautiful vessel with its signature pink and white sails, spacious enough to comfortably fit around 40 people. Luckily, our cruise had fewer guests, which made the experience feel even more relaxed and intimate. We headed straight to the back of the boat to keep one of our daughters—who was feeling a little under the weather—away from the stronger winds and ocean spray. The crew was thoughtful and understanding, making sure everyone was comfortable.

As we cruised along the coast and around Diamond Head, the views were absolutely breathtaking. We captured plenty of photos and videos, and the crew kindly helped us take some group shots so we could all be in the moment together. They were not only attentive and professional but genuinely fun, with great energy and humor that added to the good vibes onboard.

Special thanks to Captain Lexi, Alex, and Vicki (hope we got the names right!)—they handled the entire cruise with effortless grace, great teamwork, and care. It’s clear that this job takes hard work, but they made it feel smooth and enjoyable for every guest.

The bar was fully stocked, the bathroom was impressively clean, and everything about the experience felt well-organized and welcoming.

My fiancé and I had an incredible two day adventure with Pink Sails Waikiki, and it’s safe to say they made our trip unforgettable. We first joined them on March 26th for a whale watching tour, and we were so impressed that we returned the next day, March 27th, for their sunset cruise after another cruise line’s boat issues left us searching for an alternative. Both experiences exceeded our expectations!

On the whale watching tour, we were treated to stunning views and a lively atmosphere, but the sunset cruise stole the show. Not only did we see tons of sails dotting the horizon, but we were thrilled to spot spinner dolphins leaping and twirling in the water which was an amazing moment we’ll never forget.

A huge part of what made these tours so special was the crew, starting with Peter. He’s an absolute character hilarious, authentic, and basically a stand up comedian on a boat. It felt like we were getting two tours in one: the ocean adventure and his nonstop entertainment. Chatting with him one on one was a highlight; his story about why he came to Hawaii is as captivating as the views, and he’s just a genuinely awesome guy.

Then there’s Captain Ryan, who left an indelible mark on our trip. With 25 years of experience in these waters, he’s a wealth of knowledge and warmth. He went out of his way to recommend other must see spots around the island, which we’re so grateful for. Hearing him explain the nuances between native Hawaiian and Tahitian languages was fascinating and added such a rich layer to the experience. He’s the kind of person you carry home with you unforgettable in the best way.

Purchased a Whale Watching 10:30am sail for $37. (Adult is $47 their Facebook has discount codes, give a follow). Bought it Saturday night for a Monday morning trip. I took the #20 bus from my Waikiki hotel and was there in no time 15min maybe, stop is Hobron Ln & Ala Moana Blvd. We were placed on their Odyssey boat; a white and pink 65ft two story boat. Bench seating, metal armrest row seating, and standing room. Everyone had a spot didn’t feel crowded for our January excursion. The two hour duration felt like just the right amount of time. Saw dolphins and whales and almost more pleasant was just the comfortable ride in general to get out on the water and see a different side of Waikiki. Our particular quest for whales went out pretty far but great vistas of diamond head and the harbors and skylines. Very photo-op-y and instagrammy. Your fellow sailors and staff were all happy to take pics of each other. The three young guys manning our sail were Alexi, Kainoa, and Seamus. They brought the safety, professonalism, and fun. On top of being charismatic hosts, they read the room to engage the crowd, educate, and put out plenty of whale puns. 10 outta 10. What a steal. Unrelated to Pink Sails outfitter: it was sorta sad to see how polluted Ala Wai harbor can be. Not many garbage cans in parking lot and loading areas so there’s trash and paper scattered.
