First: the pros. This is in a great location. Near to Waikiki and surrounded by some really wonderful food and shops. It’s on the shabbier side of town, but the price reflects that.
One perk is the dedicated internet router in each room. The internet was still often dropped out, but it was a comfort to know we weren’t sharing a router with the entire building, which is not always a given in large resort properties.
The building was relatively quiet for the most part. The walls, floors, and ceilings are thick so you didn’t often hear neighboring televisions or footfalls. You’re on a rather busy street, so do have ambient construction noise and vehicle traffic, and Waikiki does have its share of engine revving.
But the cons, and they are extensive, mean I would never stay in this property again.
From the moment you walk in and stare into their (always open) disheveled office supply closet. The check in process is unnecessarily odious (I’ve filled out less paperwork to buy or rent a home). Not a great first impression to welcome a guest.
A disheveled and worn out lobby is only the beginning. When we arrived in our rooms there were a myriad of unidentifiable stains and rips on curtains that should be replaced, the mini fridge shelving cracked to the point of unusability, the closet door off tracks, and worst of all, an extremely poor cleaning job upon check-in. I found dried up bugs, cakes of dust, even a clipped fingernail, all within easy sight. All lend itself to a property that is not being maintained.
The small parking lot was filled with garbage and covered in graffiti. I was traveling with my spouse, but I would definitely not have felt safe staying here alone.
Other tacky touches like making you give them your drivers license in exchange for the use of a luggage cart and a price list for generic staging items no one would even think to abscond with, dollar store glass hurricane vases on the shelf and a print out of a framed stock photo.
Because the only air conditioning are window units, the hallways on warm days are uncomfortably hot and musty.
We selected this place among others because for an extended stay, it boasted a kitchenette. However, it’s really just a mini fridge and microwave, which most hotels these days have anyway. There is a small stovetop but unless you’re traveling with your own cooking supplies, it’s worthless. The sink is the bathroom sink so that’s always unpleasant to wash a coffee pot out right beside the toilet, as well as creating a pinch point if you’re staying with someone else who is using the sink to get ready in the morning when you need it for the “kitchen.”
I understand that daily housekeeping isn’t happening right now due to Covid, but we only once, in three weeks, had anyone come to our door to try and offer supplies or service the room. Not ideal in a hotel where I actually don’t travel with my own cleaning supplies, vacuum, sheets, and trash bags so I expect that to be included in a hotel stay. Apparently not here. Certainly not a clean or comfortable stay, and zero service besides.
Adding to the impression of general run down were two power outages. When we called the front desk to inquire what they knew about estimated restoration time (keep in mind, in a high rise, when you’re without power, you’re also without running water), they insisted it was all of Waikiki, not just this building, but the Hawaii Electric website indicated otherwise and we could clearly see lights on all other surrounding buildings. Additionally, an emergency evacuation alarm went off another time that turned out to be a false alarm. No other details were given, but it didn’t inspire confidence in the comfort, maintenance, and security of this property.
Ultimately we stayed because two of the three weeks we were quarantined, but the moment we were allowed, we began looking for a new place. I certainly wouldn’t wish anyone to live out their quarantine time on the island here, and would advise that this place is utilitarian at best, no where near a comfortable stay...
Read moreWORST HOTEL EVER!!! DISREGARD 1 STAR!! I didn't want to give a star but it wouldn't allow me to post if I didn't select anything!! This past weekend my daughter graduated from the 6th grade. Although still in elementary I always do either a party or something of their choice to celebrate such an accomplishment. My daughter chose to stay at a hotel with 2 of her friends. After looking online we came across your hotel-Aqua Skyline. Not only were the pictures beautiful but the price was reasonable. As local's it's already hard to live in Hawaii and then to take my kids out as a single parent of 4 its even HARDER!! But with faith I chose your hotel. In hopes that my daughter and her friends would have a great time!
Money is tight and I wanted to stay somewhere where my money could get the most. Somewhere where it didn't seem like I was being "cheap". So I had faith in Aqua Skyline.
To my disbelief it was the WORST PLACE WE EVER STAYED!!!!
First-as we checked into the hotel the guest service worker was carrying his child during work trying to check me in while his wife stood there staring with a stroller and another kid in there. As I mentioned I'm a mother of 4 so I know too well how it is to not have a sitter, not have time with my kids because of work and so on..however that didn't bother me, it was his wife who stood there staring then lingering in the area!! As he was trying to check me in I asked for an upgrade because when I booked the room it was my thought that it was a one bedroom suit. However my reservation was for a studio. Patiently waiting for an upgrade his eyes were on his children-which is normal but so unprofessional!! He then upgraded me to a one bedroom without letting me know there was NO ac in the living area, there was only 1 portable fan and an AC in the room. The room was TERRIBLY HOT when we got in there, the AC blew water out from the side and left the balcony WET!! I had to walk downstairs to get more fans because housekeeping wasn't there!! So I carried 4 pillows, 1 sheet and one fan from the lobby up to the 44th floor!!!
The next day our ice box BROKE!!! Our food was COMPLETELY RUINED!!! There was water ALL on the kitchen floor!!! EVERYTHING in the icebox melted & water was all in our left over food from D&Bs!! IT WAS A DISASTER!!! A piece from the tub fell OFF!!! So there was an empty whole below the water faucet in the shower!! & to make it worse..it was RUSTED!! So it was TOTALLY GROSS!! Because there were only two fans and it was HOT I had to request for ANOTHER fan!!!! A small fridge was bought up to our room BUT everything was already SPOILED & RUINED!!! To top it off the pool was DIRTY!!! There was rubbish all along the inside of the pool!! In the pictures it seemed like the BBQ area was near the pool BUT it was on the OPPOSITE side!! So I couldn't BBQ till after I watched my kids swim!!
The staff wasn't pleasant AT ALL!!! I tried to explain everything that was going on & they brushed it off!!! IT MADE ME FURIOUS!!!
My poor daughter was so SHAME!!! EVERYTHING WENT WRONG!!!! My heart is so sore for her!! To invite her friends thinking they would enjoy a nice stay away from home BUT IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL OR STAY HERE EVER AGAIN!!! I don't write reviews but on this hotel I am going to!!! MY DAUGHTER IS MY LIFE!! I JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE I WASTED HARD EARNED MONEY TO STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!
I don't know what else to say I'm just so...

I wanted to love this place. The front desk staff were amazing and kind. We got to the room on the 27th.
When we checked in they were doing construction right next to us. It was so so so loud it shook the whole wall and we couldn’t hear each other talk. It quite literally sounds like someone was farting so loud. We didn’t have a warning about it so I went down stairs and asked how long they will be working until they let me know 5 o’clock. That wasn’t a huge deal but it would have been nice to know. The room itself was cute. Dirty but cute. Had a large stain on the floor that my son thought was blood but it was just a large red spot. The bathroom shower/tub had hairs all over but I just washed those down.
My son and I went to the pool after he’d was swimming in it for about 30 minutes on the shallow side a group of older girls had pointed out in the deep in there was a dead bird. I had my son get out and he opted to go to the hot tub so we went to the hot tub and there was guys smoking marijuana with in 2 feet of my 6 year old. Security didn’t do anything. So that was wonderful. We had to leave because how horrible.
HERES THE UPSET. We checked out this morning at 8. We noticed at 2pm that my 75 year old father left his AirPods in the room on the bed. I check the gps on them and yes they are still there. We call the hotel to let them know and they checked and said they weren’t there we tell them no they are gps is pinging them there so they check again and still nothing. I called back and asked to speak with a manager and a gentlemen gets on the phone to tell me he has already spoken with me (he hadn’t it was my mom) and that they aren’t there I tell him there is no way they aren’t gps is saying they are. This is a 200 dollar device and I understand it’s not their fault but when I can see they are still there it is VERY FRUSTRATING. He poo-fooed it and said well they could be anywhere you can’t tell they are in the room or in the lobby. The last place they were was in the room on the bed closest to the bathroom. I know exactly where they were left. I know that for a fact but he swears they don’t have them. I asked him to check with housekeeping staff again but he said he already had. Cool. I let him know if the location changes they will be hearing from us. 😡 what a way to start the...
