Well, I start with their offer which we got during check in. They asked us to write down a very good review to get 20% off a price for parking. If I saw someone mention it in feedbacks I wouldn’t never book this hotel. We decided to write an honest review to help people not to make our mistake. Now about the hotel. It’s a very basic hotel. They have some special rules about changing towels ( you have to put it in a plastic bag and leave it outside. They will charge you $25 if you leave the towel loose, not in a bag. AC is very old and unbearably loud. We couldn’t sleep even with earplugs. The hotel is on a very noisy street so you can’t open windows. Windows by themselves are very old and not soundproof of course. Parking is expensive-$47 per night. They clean the room and bring supplies only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, so it was just Thursday during our stay but even this one day they didn’t bring any shampoo, soap and toilet paper. So better bring everything with you if you still going to book this hotel. Pet cost $47 per night. So it was the worst hotel for the last few years for us. Definitely do not recommend!!!

Bang for the buck it's the best place in Waikiki. Units with a kitchenette come with a refrigerator freezer stove oven toaster coffee maker rice cooker pots pans dishes cups knives cutting board dish soap and sponge free at front desk. Great housekeeping big important tip if you have a rental car Reserve parking. Location location location walking distance down to the main drag cohea and Ala Moana Boulevard action and both directions bus line Starbucks, but for groceries to cook go to a supermarket Waikiki rates in effect. Laundromat facilities free newspaper morning coffee , sometimes juice free check out the website

Patrick and his staff exceeded our expectations and we all felt the Aloha spirit. This hotel was clean, it was roomy, it had a great view, and most importantly, it was minutes away from Waikiki beach, international market and the happy Waikiki scene. Parking was also a big plus and we felt as if we were just at home. The hotel also lent us their beach umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for the kids. Thank you Patrick for all your accommodation, kindness and your island love. We will be definitely coming back here. I highly recommend this place very much! 🤙🏽 🤙🏽 🌺

Even though we booked a stay in the hotel, they put us in the annex which two blocks away from the hotel itself. Not so nice if you have to carry the bags over again for another 300m. The ladies at the reception were very nice and helpfull, one of them even went with us all the way down to the annex to show us where it is.

The annex is an old, somewhat dodgy looking apartament building from ( I guess ) the 50s. At first it doesnt make a good impression, especially the lift which is old, very dirty and smelly. To access the building you need a hotel card for the lift so no strange individuals around - the entire building belongs to the hotel.

In fact, you don't get a room but a huge one bedroom apartament with a big balcony, fully equiped kitchen, bath, flatscreen tv etc, air condition, etc. much better than a plain hotel room if you ask me. The rooms are dated, the design is a weird japanese style, but very very clean and really functional. The beds were new and quite comfy. The stove in the kitchen is a museum piece from the 50s but works perfectly and I kinda loved that thing :)

It takes a few hours to get used to the apartament especially if you have expected a regular hotel room but I have to say that I really enjoyed the apartament, especially the balcony at night from which you get a nice partial view over the canal and the hills. I would prefer the annex to the hotel itself anytime!

The location was great - 2 blocks / 10 minutes walk away from the famous Waikiki Beach, one block away from the Kuhio Blvd with all the shops etc. the closest ABC shop is 5 mintes walk away. You can also easily walk to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre along the canal - that would be a 20 minutes walk. You'll be faster on foot than taking the bus :)

The nearest bus stop is on Kuhio blvd a few minutes walk from the hotel - you can the bus to the airport, Pear Harbour, Ala Moana, China town. etc from there. The ride is always 2.50 $ - no change can be given by the driver so make sure you have small notes in your pocket. Remeber - the ticket is valid for around 3 hours so you can hop off if you like and take another bus then ( regardless which route as far it is going in the same direction ) without having to pay twice!

Word of advice if you on a budget - you have afully equiped kitchen so use it. Get the bus to China Town, ( 20 minutes ride ) do your shopping there - the grocery prices are like 30- 50% lower than in Waikiki. And believe me Hawaii is the most expnsive place I have ever visited.

Over the entire stay, the room was cleaned on daily basis, the towels were also changed daily. The housekepping lady comes in the afternoon, around 3-4pm just that you know ;). The WiFi was not the fastest but still acceptable for internet browsing Etc. NO BUGS of any kind spotted at any time in or around the annex - which is an isue in some of the Waikiki hotels. They keep the property very clean I have to say.

Now one HUGE ISSUE for light sleepers - the annex and the hoteal are located right at the Ala Wai Blvd. which is a VERY BUSY AND NOISY STREET. The windows are hawaiian style movable glas panel windows which you can close but the will not cut the street noise at all and you will hear the street 24/7. Solution - ear plugs + the air con running on fan setting at night = whitenoise. That did the trick for me and I am a light sleeper.

Overall - would I stay again? Definitely! In fact, should I ever visit Waikiki again I will stay in the annex. It is not the Hilton or Sheraton, it is dated but I really enjoyed...

Review 09/2023

6-story, 1960s apartment building overlooks the Ala Wai Canal and is a 10-minute walk to Waikiki Beach

nice mountain/canal area views

elevator access only with room keycard (no air ventilation, inside are papers with some hotel instructions)

2 entrances : main entrance from Ala Wai Blvd & secondary one from Nohonani St = mornings( around sunrise time) are very nosy

accommodation extra charges&fees: 10.25% Tax US$ 32 Property service charge/night (=30$/night) 0.50% local council tax 3% government tax 4.21% City tax

check-in appointments : upon arrival in the building , it's required to call a phone no., to actually reach the owner (instruction papers are glued to the reception window/door)

reception : empty&closed/not functional all day long (owner/staff is reachable only via phone - clean towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, boogie boards etc.)

didn't appreciate the so-called welcoming : no introduction, no hello/welcome etc. (got instead : " first of all let's start with your IDs..."), every instruction about hotel/room/cleaning etc. is done verbally (memory game/test all after a long flight...)

the building, elevator & parts in the room are embellished with different murals on the ceiling and colorful paper-wall

room: old and out-dated furniture&appliances overall, clean and maintained to function small bathroom with no air ventilation (free toiletries and extra towels) no extra pillows WIFI totally unreliable and mostly non-existing not all windows open properly (struggled with the manually odd&old mechanism) nice views from the balcony kitchen had all the...
