Having shopped at World Market for years I am deeply disappointed by my most recent experience at this store. We placed an online order for in store pickup for furniture. We received two text messages from world market stating that our order was in-store and available for pickup and a notification that my credit card was charged. We dropped our daughter off at daycare and made space in our vehicle and then drove 20 minutes to the store only so that the assistant manager, Dana, could tell us that she cancelled our order. We informed her that we had no communications stating that the order was cancelled and even showed her the messages that we did have and she proceeded to tell us that it’s not her fault that we received no communication from her or the company that our order was cancelled. Furthermore she told us that the furniture had actually arrived in store, but that it was allocated for someone else who had placed the same order. She then told us that even though we were there in store and my credit card had already been charged and I had communications from world market saying my order was ready for pickup she could not give us the furniture that was in the store. She was rude, irritable, unprofessional, lacked understanding and was unapologetic about everything. Couldn’t have cared less about what an inconvenience and frustration the ordeal was for us. What she did offer us was for the store manager to call us the next day but refused to give us the store managers name or contact information. This was a deeply unpleasant and inconvenient experience which wasted my time. I recommend that Dana find herself a job that isn’t in customer service since it’s clear she doesn’t actually care about customers.
Update: the store manager was wonderful and helped to resolve...
Read moreDO NOT RECOMMEND. Placed an order online to be picked up in store. Decided I no longer wanted the item before picking up. Called the store and explained--was told the order was cancelled and I would not be charged. Continued to receive notifications that my order was ready to be picked up. Called again--order was never cancelled. Hung up and called corporate--corporate tells me they will cancel for me. End up being charged $535 for the item after being told by 3 different people my order was cancelled. Now I am out $535 of MY OWN MONEY and never even had anything in my possession at all. In addition, I ordered 2 chairs to be shipped to my home. After the above fiasco, I decided I didn't want the chairs either. Corporate told me they stopped shipment on the chairs and my order would be non existent. What do you know? Today I receive shipment notification on the chairs I cancelled. Supervisor tells me they weren't actually cancelled despite what the customer service rep told me, and he said to expect an additional $941 to come out of my bank account for 5-7 business days--yet again I will not EVER have these items in my possession as he re-routed them back to the warehouse before giving my my options. I was lied to by 5 different World Market employees including two store staff members, Jeremy an online service rep, another lady from corporate, and a supervisor at corporate. The fact that my money is held up by this company and taken out of my bank account for items I CANCELLED and will never have in my possession is CRIMINAL. Punit, the last supervisor I spoke with, agreed with me that this is a criminal act yet claims he can't do anything about it. The charge doesn't even show pending in my bank account so I can't even go through my bank to...
Read moreI truly regret not remembering the name of the excellent cashier who checked us out. She was the only person at the register, October 9th at 12:12 PM when we checked out. She had WONDERFUL customer service. She greeted us with a very warm smile. The cashier also took time to assist us with signing up for membership which permitted us to get a discount off of our entire purchase. We found a lot of great items and considered a good few, but some items did not have price stickers listed. I know they are putting up Christmas items, but we were not looking at Christmas items. Nobody was seen nearby to ask for help and we did not want to bombard the cashier with a bunch of price checks. They have a great selection of items and so many desirable items to enjoy. Parking was great and it is not difficult to find a great parking space. Some items did have great sale prices. I don't consider the aisle throughout the store to be very accessible. While on an aisle, someone needed to pass by me. It would have been difficult for someone using a wheelchair, etc to get through comfortably. I would love for the store owner to have someone to assess the store concerning how to create a more accessible...
