Usually we love this location. Last night changed our minds. My husband and I took our 2 kids for dinner and the experience was disappointing, to say the least. Our appetizer came out quickly and was great. Sushi took a good bit longer but no big deal we sat and talked. However, one of the kids ordered chicken fried rice instead of sushi. All the sushi came out and was mostly eaten before we could get our waitresses attention to let her know we were still missing someone. She never came to check on us. She would walk past us too quickly for us to catch her. I tried for most of the meal to get her attention but it felt like she was intentionally avoiding looking our way. I even waved at her once and she immediately looked away. My daughter had to actually go to the register to ask for a set of chopsticks because we couldn’t seem to get anyone’s attention. When we finally got her to come to us to tell her about the missing dish, everyone else was just about done eating and the only response we got was that the ticket must have gotten bumped. It still took about 15-20 more minutes before his rice came out and was brought with the bill. We were not offered refills despite having empty glasses for an extended period of time. For the first time EVER, I asked for a manager at the register. I told her about the issue and was essentially told that they had too many hibachi orders and too small a grill to keep up. She did take the rice off our bill. That all was bad enough but then my daughter and I were horribly ill all night after that. We didn’t eat anything else after dinner and had not eat since our early lunch so we’re pretty sure it...
Read moreAfter a long week of work you are looking forward to winding down on a Friday night. Have dinner with your family talk and relax. Well that is what my husband and I wanted to do. We walk into rock n roll sushi in Hoover where we are able to get a table right away. We order our appetizer and our drinks. The server promptly give our drinks and takes our orders. I order a sushi roll, and my husband Steak hibachi with a ginger salad. Not too soon after that we get our appetizer and salad together. I was kinda hopping we would get them a little more spaced out but none the less we eat. We are enjoying our conversation and then my sushi roll comes out. We are waiting on my husbands food. I don’t really wanna start to eat my main dish when he has yet to get his. He tells me to go ahead and eat and thank god I did because we would still be sitting there. The server comes to our able latest 3 times saying his food is almost done. It’s been about 15 minutes since I received my food. The server comes out again and says oh it’s almost ready another 10 minutes. I have completely finished my food. Then the manager come me a says oh it’s almost done. Then the people who say down after us got not one but two plates of steak Hibachi then a third table. While my husband is still sitting without food. Then the manager asked if he wanted his box up because we are clearly ready to leave. I’d like to say this was the first time something like this happened but sadly no it’s not. This is the second time this happened At the Hoover location. We will not be coming back to the...
Read moreI’ve dined at countless restaurants, both locally and abroad, and I don’t leave this review lightly. I want everyone to know just how incredible our server, Chloe, is. She is, without a doubt, the best server I’ve ever encountered. Thoughtful, attentive, humble, and unfailingly positive, Chloe goes above and beyond every time we visit.
For the past two years, my family and I have frequented this restaurant, and Chloe has never once forgotten our orders—not mine, not my spouse’s, and not our children’s. What’s even more impressive is that she doesn’t need to write anything down. She just remembers! Beyond that, she anticipates our needs perfectly, refilling drinks before we even ask and offering a warm smile—even when the restaurant is clearly busy.
Chloe isn’t just dedicated to her own tables; I’ve seen her step in to help other servers while still ensuring my family and every table around us receives excellent care. She is constantly on the move, never taking a moment for herself if it means a customer might need something.
I believe Chloe is also a manager or shift leader, and if she isn’t, she absolutely should be. Her leadership qualities shine through in the way she handles busy shifts while maintaining a level of service that makes dining here a pleasure. On the rare occasions she isn’t working, the difference in service is noticeable, and frankly, it’s Chloe who keeps us coming back.
She truly deserves recognition, a promotion, or whatever it takes to make sure her exceptional work is appreciated. Without her, this restaurant wouldn’t...
