Walking on the trail nearby we noticed this antique store and dropped in to look. Wow! This is not your typical antique store - they have an extensive collection of old and rare books, antique, Art Deco fixtures like lamp covers, hardware, sinks, doors, windows, and at the moment lots of beautiful vintage Christmas decor.
The store is much bigger than it seems from the outside and they have a lot of architectural salvage on display, as well as a huge selection of vintage ornate religious artifacts. Take time to wander through both buildings and their outdoor display area.
The owners were very friendly and I was greeted by Sparky, the resident cat. Actually talked to one of the owners who told me they took this cat in after he was dropped in the area. He's living the good life, happy and healthy. That speaks volumes about the kind of people these owners are.
Like I said, not your typical antique store where there are consignment booths and everything under glass. Very interesting items, so I took some pictures to show what they've got. This is my new favorite business in...
Read moreThe selection is... Interesting, but not inspiring. I strode through this place without being tempted to buy anything other than a hand drill. They do have a pretty good outdoor selection of architectural items (doors, windows, cornices, etc) but some of these seem to be in pretty bad shape... Due to being outside. And the prices? Well, they're a little ambitious on their valuations. My advice? Skip it if you are looking for furniture, maybe include it if you're looking for bric-a-brac or tchotchkes, and go there if you want antique doors and windows. You know, go there and try to negotiate a better price. I can't say anything about the firmness of their pricing as I did not buy anything, but it struck me as the type of establishment that might take umbrage at the temerity of a patron to suggest that their prices, perhaps, were not holy writ passed onto humanity through these divine shopkeepers. But that's just a general feeling I have after having been to hundreds of similar...
Read moreOne of the best Antique shop we have ever visited. It is a very unique shop with varieties of genuine products. Religious statues and old books were my favorite. One needs several hours to see everything. Mr. James Weaver, (owner) is a true gentleman, genuine, kind, and generous. We did not have to bargain at all. The price was just right. Our only negative comment is that the temperature inside the shop was ‘very hot’ due to Texas summer. The heat really did not matter to us at all especially when we saw so many antique items reasonably priced! We will continue to visit this...
