I am sick to my stomach writing this review but it has to be done. People need to know about this businessā childish behaviour and lack of professionalism. I am a single parent with several health problems and since my son was born (heās now 20 months) I had not been able to go get a mani/pedi. Besides not being able to afford it, I was also waiting to find a non-toxic salon that would suit the natural lifestyle I am trying to achieve. I was SO excited to come across Paloma as it is the only nail salon of its type in Houston. I booked my first appointment for May 23rd, my 30th birthday (which I was so excited for even though I normally donāt celebrate birthdays). Everything went fine aside from being nicked during the manicure. When it was time to pay I asked to use the card they had on file but it didnāt go through because I forgot I needed to transfer cash. I transferred the cash and told the receptionist to try again. The money was taken out on my end but was not showing up on theirs so they still needed payment. I didnāt have any more money for them to attempt payment again so my friend used her card for me and I would pay her back later. We left. Shortly after, I booked an appointment on their online portal for a shellac manicure for the coming Tuesday at their Post Oak location partly because I just wanted to try a different location and partly because I changed my mind the day of and wanted shellac instead of The Pronto but the manicurist did not have time to fit it into the schedule. Ten minutes later I received an email saying that my appointment was cancelled so I called immediately to see what was going on. The girl that picked up the phone put me on hold to find out and when she came back I was SHOCKED to hear what she had to say. She said that I am no longer allowed back for services at any explanation. Completely befuddled, I asked why and she said āI have no further informationā. I told her that I wanted to know what I had done and she said she would pass along my request for someone to call me back. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was not one available. Another 10 minutes later, whoever runs their social media reposted my story of me getting my pedicure. I replied, āI was just banned from receiving services for God knows what and you still repost my story? Iām so confused.ā A few minutes later they deleted their repost and blocked me! I have never come across a more childish, unprofessional business in my life. For āa businesswoman who believes in leading by exampleā, Maryam Naderi, I donāt think this is a very good one. I am heartbroken that a beauty service really did bring harm to my health and wellness. Maybe not in a physical way with toxic chemicals but definitely in a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās sad to share that this experience with all of its hiccups was a snooty, preventable mess.
Was previously a client several times over the years when Maryam first opened on Post Oak & also brought 4 friends here, plus recommended many over the years, too.
Booked an appt. Showed up 5-10 mins ahead of time. Was hard to find the location, looked for a standout sign on the building. Spent a good 5 mins searching until there was one spotted on the sidewalk.
Receptionist, Tye, greeted ā mistaking & calling me for someone else. It wasnāt until I corrected Tye that it clicked. Okā¦
Tye was further confused as to what was my appt & the time. Then stated there was no booking, blaming technology āmessedā it up. Okā¦
I asked if my preferred nail tech was still available as discussed previously while booking over phone. Tye said yeah & literally booked the appt in front of me. Okā¦
After I returned from the ladies room, Tye left me hanging. No communication, just went off somewhere for a good several mins.
I am pretty aware of this salonās timeliness policy. Wish they follow the same for clients.
I took a seat in front since 2 nail techs & some pretty snooty clients were staring me down. (Yes, Iām not white. Yes. I can afford Paloma. Yes. Itāll all be ok).
Then suddenly Tye shows up again. Says to follow to the mani area, with body language vibes like I AM the awkward one šā¦Okā¦
After a few more mins, a nail tech who had been looking at me shows up & starts my service. Apologizes at 3:26 PM (as per my phone time), for being late to the 3:15 PM appt. [Also, I noted that the mani area clocks are about 10 mins fast].
A few mins into my service, nail tech apologized stating Iām not her client. She stepped away. Okā¦
After some more mins, the nail tech I asked for during phone booking arrived.
Agree with other reviewers who noted how uncomfortable the manicure area chairs are. I think they are the same since this establishment began.
Good luck to this establishment. Itās one thing to pride oneās business based on non-toxic products. Itās another to let inhospitable employee behaviors & the generally snooty atmosphere & vibe of this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI first fell in love six years ago, and they have been consistent each time.
This is one of the few nail salons that does not have fungus spreading jets. Letās demand better ladies!
From the moment you walk in, Paloma sets itself apart from the competition. The decor is simple and elegant. I feel like I stepped into an editorial magazine shoot. Even the air is different. I can count on one hand the number of nail salons in Houston you can walk into without feeling light headed or feeling like you will have lung cancer by the time you leave. Y'all had me at non toxic, from the air to the polish brands, and products for sale, it's giving mini day spa.
The receptionist, Ty, is attentive and just a wonderful energy, truly delivering customer service, which is rare these days. And I have very high standards. Between the playlist and oversized chairs I could hardly stay awake. Their nail techs take their time. I felt well taken care of and valued as a customer. I've yet to have a bad experience.
I've read a few of the less stellar reviews and was surprised. They have low turn over and very experienced technicians. Ty looked up the last service I had over a year ago and that person, Theresa is still employed with the company. (A friend of mine opened a nail salon so I was supporting her for a few years but now that she has closed it, I am back at Paloma.)
My pedicures hold up well. If I have to go to another salon in a nail crisis, I normally put another top coat on when I get home. But not at Paloma. I haven't ever had any issues with chipping, but if I'm not mistaken they have a policy where you can come back in for a touch up/redo if something happens within a set period of time.
I had Michele for my pedicure. Loved her. The River Oaks location is top tier as well. The only problem is...we need more Paloma locations! Thank you for a wonderful experience š P.S.: thank you for the discount in exchange for the review, it shows you value your...
