Lord of the Streets Episcopal Church — Local services in Houston

I want to thank everybody at the Lord of the streets they are there for me during my hard times when I'm not feeling well. I went to one of the clinics cuz I had an emergency they told me only by appointment, that's for the hospital I had so much pain I couldn't sit there and wait a long period of time for them to help me. So I walked to the Lord of the streets and they helped me as soon as they could . They showed that they really cared about not only myself but everyone that was there, we need more places like the Lord of the streets because nowadays a lot of us go through hard times. Lord of the streets and their doctors have helped me through so much this year I thank God for all of them I thank God that the Lord of the streets exists. In the real world they wouldn't even take a second look at us that are having a hard time.I pray for all that care for us that have lost everything yet Lord of the streets gives us food, clothing, medical attention,and much more called compassion and respect. Very helpful to access housing. Treated with kindness and compassion.

The only negative is the long wait to open and get seen as a first time visitor. Other services have different days and times. We came at just before 5:00 AM to wait until 8:00 AM for the gate to open. Seating is covered but still outdoors so dress accordingly. A hot meal is served.

The wait is made difficult by the street construction and torn up sidewalks. You are across the street by several tents and shelters of homeless people. This attracts animals such as rats and at least one raccoon that acted frighteningly agitated.

LOTS is another place people can go for an hot meal ,showers , clothes, homeless housing, Gold card (health care for homeless or if you don't have Medicaid) get medicine for mental health or illiness, ( if someone is homeless and wanna sign up for housing) ( This is not Section 8 nor public housing ) Also , they can get a social worker. They are opened Monday through Friday. Great kind, sweet wonderful people who help the Homeless and I give my time and help to the Homeless since a lot of people don't choose not want to help them and let me say one more thing Every one that is Homeless is not a drug addict or alcoholic sum have lost due to the pandemic.
