I tried to hold off thinking things would get better here. I have only been here for three weeks. I leased the apartment in October. However, I was moved into another unit because the building and unit I originally Ieased was not ready. How does someone justify that after 4 months? They say they pay movers but you will still have a fee. I had a fee of almost 400.00 dollars and I moved 5 mins away so you will pay for your move. I agreed to stay in the unit they put me in because if you are established and have acquired things, it is hell to move again. So I am paying considerably more than I was supposed to. I am miserable here. The construction of the place is horrible. There are leaks and poor plumbing which has cracks on the floors. THE FLOORS! The rustic loft look you want is only a dream here, not reality. Look at the pictures. The floors look horrible and if you spill water or mop, there are stains that will not leave. So if you are clean it will be a hot mess. The floors are sealed improperly and construction of pencil drawing (with words) visible on the floor, paint, rust , dirt and white spots where they tried to seal leaks, all under a sealant you canât remove. The management thinks it is acceptable because âit is a loft.â There is no luxury here. The hallways are dirty, and the trash rooms overfill and are greasy (literally) and stink. There is only one slow elevator working. I am embarrassed to invite anyone here, and I am about to pay well over $2000.00. It couldnât have been inspected before me moving in. The first day Jan 1st, 2018, when it was in the 20s outside, I had no heat for three days and my shower overflowed into the hallway, so I cleaned up lots of water and froze. It was so cold in here; my dog was shivering and my mom was visiting from out of town and became sick. I was given space heaters but by not unpacking waiting on my original apartment to be ready, so yes, it was a fire hazard. The 24-hour maintenance did not answerthe first day and I was told it was because it was a holiday⌠REALLY!!! We froze for a day and a half. There is not enough maintenance staff here so the two guys cannot get to all of the problems that exist. You get one cheap closet rack, imporoperly hung, and of course I came home with everything on the floor. There is no rack in the laundry closets and you have to pay them to add more. REALLY YOU DO!!! So you have no storage. The stoves are wire/electric and cheap. Every fixture, is of the lowest grade and loose. The cabinets are laminated and cheesy. The models look nice but once you actually move in you will feel defeated. The manager seems nice and so does maintenance but you get the story of â poor constructionâ â itâs just the way it isâ and nicely said â sorry we canât do anything to fix thatâ or they will fixed that right away.â These things are still not fixed. Whatever damage happens, they fix the emergencies eventually but the aesthetics stay the same, because âthere is nothing that can be done.â If you are used to living in a nice place, donât live here. I warn you âIT IS THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER LIVEDâ! Whatever damage happens, they fix the leaks, etc, but the aesthetics stay the same (a hot mess). I would not have taken the time to write this but I am literally miserable and embarrassed to be here. I am afraid of what will happen next if there is a heavy rain because you can see where things were sealed after the fact (reactive approach). The only thing you get is a good city location. I warn you, save yourself heartache and money find a nicer property in this area to move to!!!!! The grills are null, there are none, only a empty space where they should be placed. The fitness room when it rains, it is wet on the inside and a fall hazard. Oh and the spin room or a bike does not exist...all a lie on the site. I PUT THE PICTURES on YELP! and I will be adding more. If there could be a negative numerical rating, I would give it -5. I feel like a first for me, I am experiencing living in "the projects."...
Read moreI've lived in Mid Main since October 2018 and I've loved living here so far. See below for more detail for the pro's and con's for living in the apartment complex:
Pro's: Location, location, location: This apartment is so close to restaurants and fun activities. I usually will walk over to Taco's A Go-Go, Winbern Mess Hall, Chipotle and a few Vietnamese restaurants within 5-10 minutes from the complex. This is right off 59/69, so it's easy to hop on/off. There's an HEB in Montrose which is about 7 minutes driving which is perfect. Metro: I love that the train is right next to the complex. I head into the city every day for work, and it's so convenient to pay $1.25 to head downtown and skip parking. I also head out to the Museum district and Hermann park a few times a month and this is the best way to get there. Staff: The staff is super friendly to work with. I enjoy chatting with Kristi, Cole, and the others to see what's new and what upcoming events they have planned. They also give me great restaurant recommendations for when my girlfriend comes to visit since I'm not from the area. Packages: Getting packages delivered from Amazon is super easy as they have an Amazon Hub. No need to worry about someone stealing my packages or having to pick them up by a certain time. Bigger packages (like furniture) gets dropped off by the front office. Apartment: I live in a 1/1 overlooking Winbern Food Hall and Breakfast Klub. I like the concrete floors, upgraded appliances, and size of the apartment. In terms of value, this is the best place I found after looking at 10-15 properties in Midtown. Every other place I visited was $300-500 more for essentially the same amenities Garage: the resident parking is above the public parking and is gated, so I'm a fan of that. There's also garage security at night. Residents: Everyone is generally super friendly. Events: They usually have an event going on for the residents each month, which is fun. They've done block parties in the past, as well as a holiday party at Brass Tap recently.
Cons: Noise: Since I overlook Breakfast Klub and Winbern Mess Hall, it can get occasionally loud around 1am-2am on Friday/Saturday nights. This doesn't happen often, but I've heard loud motorcycles, people yelling, etc. White noise machines are good here. I still enjoy this spot for the view. Parking: For public parking at Mid-Main, you'll have to pay the daily fare which can be up to $15 daily. However, as a resident, you can get your guests $5 passes for their stays. I generally have my friends park next to the church instead to save a few bucks. Internet: They loop high-speed Internet for $50. Although this is a good price for Internet, I don't use the Internet as I tether through my phone. For most folks, I know this a good deal, though.
Overall, I really enjoy living here and would be happy to re-sign. I'd...

-PROS
GREAT location. There are great restaurants, CVS, a city park, and Whole Foods within walking distance You are right off the red line which takes you anywhere downtown or to the museum district The maintenance people are super efficient, friendly, and helpful Most of the front desk staff are friendly and communicative The apartment is very spacious and the building has great amenities, a gym, art gallery, recreational space They have a nifty same day delivery grocery service you can enroll in which is awesome!
-CONS Their quiet hours are very short (lasting only until 6am-10pm) which pretty much gives people free range to be loud at most hours of the day. The building has extremely poor soundproofing. (Hopefully you live next to considerate neighbors and are far away from the dog park.) The dog park is loud and owners often let their dogs bark incessantly at all hours of the day, they are not very considerate of those living around the dog park. I would avoid living near the dog park end of the complex for that reason Delivery people for food have a very hard time finding the entrance to the complex to deliver food, and was a hassle, especially living on the 7th floor. The building has poor infrastructure, the power goes out randomly which also means you have no water, this in turn sets off the fire alarms, the fire alarms in the building also sound way more than you want them to (keep this in mind if you have animals) this frequency was traumatizing to our cats, and the elevators go out way too frequently (at least every two weeks or 1x a month?). Very inconvenient if you are living on a higher floor The garage gates are often broken or out of order Guest do not get free parking which is a major bummer for out of towners. Thankfully there was a lot of free parking on the street! 7.They require that you participate in their valet trash service despite there being a trash chute down the hall! An unnecessary additional fee you have to pay Our moving out experience was not a pleasant once. We got charged a lot of unexpected fees which were not clearly communicated in addition to shutting down our online portal shortly after move out. They only accepted a personal check for payment which was...
