Update, Federal ADA does not recognize SDiT’s, however, since he is trained to do specific task for my VA disabilities and behaves in public, he can be considered a Service Dog, not just an SDiT. Idaho State law does specifically recognize SDiT’s and grant them access with the trainer/handler, But Yellowstone Cigar does not recognize Idaho state law concerning SDiT’s. I hope this clarifies any confusion in my review. Please disregard any part that says Federal ADA requires, in this case only Idaho ADA law requires it.
This is a response to your comments on my review. It will not allow me to reply to you so I am adding it here. First of of all, I know the ADA laws. Second of all a Service Dog in Training is covered by the same ADA laws when accompanied by the handler. So yes, I told you he was in training. He is a service dog in training. The program the VA helped us get set up in is a year and a half long and they train us to train our own dogs. This is not some online do it yourself scan, it’s an intense 18 month program. You also deceptively said my SDiT lunged at your wife like he was going to attack her. You wife either said “ahhhh” or something to that effect, I don’t remember what it was. And a young dog in tracing or not will respond to that, so yes I corrected him because he has to learn to ignore people who do not ignore service dogs. As his trainer/handler it is my job to correct him. He doesn’t have a vicious bone in his body. Then you said I like to rate a business on uneducated facts. I have only given one other cigar shop a poor review because they, like you are uneducated in ADA laws. Maybe instead of doing a review I should file a complaint with the ADA.
I am driving across country with my service dog. I have visited many nice Cigar shops throughout our travels and met many nice people. Yellowstone Cigar appears to be the only one here and unfortunately I can not give them my business. I stopped by on July 7th and the owner said the service dog was not allowed in the humidor and that he would hold him for me. Both federal and state law requires that any place accessible to the public has to allow a service dog or service dog in training while accompanied by its handle (me.) I explained that to the owner and he still said no. Also, saying he would hold my dog is against the law because you are not permitted to separate a service animal from its handler. He said I wouldn’t be allowed to take him into the kitchen at a restaurant so he’s not allowed in the humidor either. Well, neither the owner of Yellowstone Cigar nor me are allowed to go into the kitchen of a restaurant because it is not public access. My SDiT is well trained, well behaved, and has been in countless grocery stores, buffets, restaurants and yes even many humidors across the country and has never damaged or destroyed anything in any humidor. He didn’t even ask either of the two questions which he is allowed to ask. I served 25 years and the VA helped me to get in this SD program so the SD can alert me to take medication and other tasks which I won’t mention here. So if you have a legitimate SD or SDiT, be aware that Yellowstone Cigar does not follow neither federal nor state ADA laws concerning...
Read moreMy buddy and I were in Idaho Falls for just an overnight, and on the way out back to Meridian, ID, we wanted to stop for an hour or so at a Cigar lounge. We fortunately found this pearl of a cigar lounge, Yellowstone Cigar Company (YCC). And what a pearl it is! A beautifully furnished and well stocked venue for cigar and pipe smokers (they even have pipe tobacco for sale), YCC is the perfect place to wind down and relax with a stogie or brier pipe in hand. The enterprise has a number of lovely rooms for that very purpose (we enjoyed being in the Churchill room with a painting of none other than the Old Guy himself, cigar in hand). The establishment is furnished with beautiful and comfortable chairs and antiques. Darren, the proprietor, is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, as of yet he has yet to secure at least a beer and wine license, but the lack thereof does not detract from what a wonderful place it is to enjoy a smoke. I wholeheartedly reckoned Yellowstone Cigar Company for all you smoking needs! ...
Read moreThe perfect place for the distinguished gentleman who wants to enjoy a cigar and have a chat, or simply enjoy the pleasure silently. YCC is conveniently located on the outskirts of downtown Idaho Falls. It's an easy walk if you're in central downtown, or they have great parking right out in front of their store. They have the best selection of cigars and cigar related accessories in town. They have a few pipes and aromatic bulk tobacco available. The lounge is very spacious occupying 2 levels and divided up into rooms. You can invite friends or professionally network and get a room for your group at no additional cost! The basement lounge has bigger TV if you want to watch the game and enjoy a smoke. My favorite is the Churchill room. Darrin, the owner, is super friendly and helpful if you need assistance picking out a cigar. YCC has done a great job of bringing the regality and enjoyment of smoking a cigar to...
