*Update 7/11/24: A lot of Disappointment. The food portions have really decreased...to the point where my husband was still hungry after eating. It was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. I dropped the food and atmosphere scores to 3 stars. *
I visited with my eldest son and husband. We were the first customers there for the day. The service was very good, friendly, and fast. We ordered a BWM roll to share. It is the only roll my husband, who doesn't like sushi, has ever liked. I really enjoyed it a lot and probably could eat almost two of them alone. We then ordered three entrees to share, sweet and sour chicken, pad Kee moa w/beef, and panang curry w/chicken. All of the dishes were very tasty and well prepared. The portions were a nice size, not too much, but plenty to satisfy. I tasted a little of each dish and was happy that we had leftovers to take home. The restaurant is in an old building down town with very few parking spots and it kinda feels/smells like it's age. It has a clean and pleasant atmosphere, but the damp/ musty smell that I experienced upon walking inside is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. (I have an incredibly sensitive sense of smell.) I'm sure once they get cooking for the day, you probably wouldn't notice it. I remembered to take pictures, but we had already started dishing out the food. UpdateWe went back and got the BMW roll again and a beef salad. Unfortunately, the roll was not good this time. I like the flavor of the beef salad but my husband did not. It had a lot of fish sauce on it which he did not care for. So I had to take away one of the stars for food. Overall still a good place to go, but if they're not consistent with the food quality then I don't know that...
Read moreTL;DR - Outstanding food, questionable service. Stopped in on a Thursday around lunchtime. We waited in the entry for several minutes before anyone even greeted us. A server noticed us, and kept busy cleaning tables before coming over. After sitting in our booth for about 10 minutes, I hailed a young man and asked him if anyone was going to take our order. He seemed surprised that no one had.
My wife and I both ordered pad thai, hers with pork, spice level two, and mine with tofu, spice level three. We asked for a bowl of brown rice to go with them, and an order of fried wontons as an appetizer. The food came in a reasonable amount of time, but no appetizer. Again, the server seemed surprised that it had not been brought out. He scuttled off into the kitchen and returned with it a few minutes later. The brown rice was missing, and never came. My wife had to ask to have it taken off the bill when we paid; she had to take the bill up to the register herself, because no one came to collect it.
The food itself was wonderful. The pad thai was abundant and hot, although not as spicy as I would have expected. The fried wontons were flaky and crispy but not overdone, some of the best I've had.
I'm not sure what was going on with the service that day. They could have been woefully understaffed, or the folks on duty may just have had no clue. I would have rated this place with another star if the service had even...
Read moreOne star for restaurant decorations, one star for the food. The food was really good but the service I got was totally a piece of trash (Well, I wanna say the word start with S and end with T here). :)
When we arrived at the restaurant, there were at least five empty tables, which means the restaurant was not that busy. But my waitress made us sit there for ten minutes before showing up. And the Asian-faced lady skipped the step of asking about drinks and asked us what main course we wanted, as if we didn't need anything to drink. After that, she never showed up at our table again. I could see her asking around about the needs of guests at other tables she served, and always making sure they got everything they wanted.
At the end we needed to take some boxes and pay the bill, the waitress just glanced at us, and then she disappeared. I had to get up from my seat twice, go to the bar and beg for some boxes and my bill, then go to the cashier to present my bill to my waiter with both hands when everyone else could sit comfortably in the seat.
Obviously, the other guests looked like locals from Idaho Falls, but I was not. If you have an Asian face too, I suggest you pay extra attention on the poor service you may get.
This terrible service almost ruined my dinner with...
