So having been in Idaho Falls now for almost 7 months I finally made the time to visit The Celt. I took my wife there for a late night dinner after he flight in from Denver. Typical Pub styling very nice with some old and not so stylish tables. Stage in the back with a small ensemble playing some good covers. Games on the overhead screens, Thursday night football. We were asked for a drink order right away and asked for water and then looked at the drink menu ordered a nice local saison. But from there is seemed to go downhill. We each ordered. I ordered the Reuben with their Colcannon potatoes, a blend of mashed red potatoes, cabbage and brown gravy, the wife ordered The Oinker with salad. AND we W A I T E D. after nearly 30 minutes I asked when we might get our food. The waitress left and I noticed her take a ticket to the kitchen ...it was ours. She returned about 5 minutes later to say there was a glitch where the ticket was not sent to the kitchen...I call BS. She never took it back. She did apologize, halfheartedly an said they could make it and have it out in 8 minutes. We reluctantly stayed , otherwise it would have been Taco Bell. From where we sat I could see the kitchen. Our food was made, and set in the slide. And we waited. the waitress heard there was food in the slide...and we waited. She made drinks....we waited. almost 10 more minutes before we got or food. Shining star right there the Colcannon potatoes unique in a very good way, the Reuben-AWESOME. The Oinker, better than the Reuben. The food alone will make the return worth it. I guess you need not be in a rush or you need to be a regular to get fed fast. I will return, but at this point just for the food and drink. The service needs a...
Read moreTo the best of my knowledge I have never not tipped before, and certainly I've never written a review. I generally have pretty low standards when it comes to dining, and I am reading all these positive reviews getting very confused. I wonder if I was singled out, though I assume not. My friend and I waited about 15 minutes before we were even addressed by the waiter, and then another 20 before we got our drinks. We stopped the waiter before he could wander off so we could order. I ordered a build your own burger with all the stuff and then I asked for two sauces. The waiter did not write anything down, I guess confident in his memory. We were not confident in his memory. My friend bet me he would mess up my order. It took us, and I'm very serious, another 40 minutes before we could find out if my friend was right. We were extremely hungry after a very long drive, so we watched the clock closely. When the food came, my friend proved to be right. Instead of mustard and aioli, it was just drenched in what I assume is a double order of aioli and no mustard. I would have asked for a redo but we were already way to deep into overtime and certainly didn't have another 40 minutes to get a new bun. Now I don't know if they were training an armless cook or if the waiter was playing cards, but I could see they were clearly not under staffed by the hustling waiters swarming around me and it was not too busy considering. We scarfed our food down uncomfortably fast, forcibly got the waiter to bring the bill and left without tipping. I probably won't be in Idaho Falls anytime soon, but if I am, I will never eat at...
Read moreI’ve been looking forward to going to The Celt for a while now, and it did not disappoint. The Celt is a great place to enjoy conversation, live music, and food. We went on a Saturday and a live band was playing. I found out that there is typically live music on Thursday and Saturday nights. The live music was amazing. For an appetizer, we ordered the pretzel bites with the pepper Jack cheese dipping sauce. The cheese was a great combination with the pretzel bites. The pretzel bites were freshly made and piping hot. We ordered the Fish and Chips, and the Pub Steak & Chips. The Fish & Chips came with a choice of dipping sauce. I choose the Wasabi tarter sauce, it was amazing. The fries were fresh and hot, how fries ought to be. The Pub Steak & Chips is a sliced steak with a truffle garlic-like seasoning on it. The steak was very good and was cooked perfectly. The fries are good as well. This place was packed full when we went. You seat yourself, so you might have to wait on a busy evening to find a spot. Well worth the wait of course. We are planning on coming back again to try some other entrees while enjoying...
