Some of Powerhouse North Canton's staff need a refresher course in customer service and humility.
Due to frequent travel (especially to the Canton area), I signed up for Fitness Your Way with Tivity Health/Blue Cross Blue Shield. This allows me to access any gym that is contracted with my membership level while I am away from home. I specifically made sure Powerhouse was included. When I went to show my membership card at check-in, the staff did not know what I was referring to. After some back and forth, a staff member went into the back to "speak with a manager." The staff member returned without said manager, and told me I had to have an Ohio address to use this service. I tried to explain that cannot be right, and completely defeats the purpose of having membership, but instead watched as the staff member turned away from me, and loudly started conversing with a fellow staff member on the body odor of a patron. As someone who works in healthcare, it was rather shocking to hear someone be so insensitive towards another individual without knowing their circumstances, that I ended up just paying for my day pass to avoid being their next target.
I ended up calling Fitness Your Way today just in the off chance I misunderstood how the program works. The representative was able to verify Powerhouse North Canton's contract with them, and explained that members use the facility, and in turn send a "big bill" to Fitness Your Way at the end of each month. I considered calling to dispute the day pass I had to pay, but doubtful I would be met with accountability.
Really quite a shame, as the facility's equipment is in good shape, and is...

Lo, in the heart of the land stands a sanctum of might and muscle — Powerhouse Gym, a true fortress of iron where warriors are forged and legends awakened.
Upon entry, one is met with the scent of steel and sweat — the incense of champions. The air is thick with determination, the cries of exertion echoing like war horns through stone halls. 'Tis no place for the faint of heart, but for those who dare chase the gods of strength.
Herein lie row upon row of sacred relics — bars stout as battering rams, plates weighty as castle doors, and machines that twist thy limbs as if conjured by dark artificers of the forge. From the bench of pressing to the altar of squats, all manner of training is made possible under this mighty roof.
The knights of Powerhouse, both men and maidens, labor with discipline and fervor, sculpting their forms as if by divine hammer. The iron never rests, and neither do they. Coaches and trainers — sages of sinew — offer their wisdom freely, guiding squires and champions alike toward their next conquest.
Cleanliness abounds, order is kept, and camaraderie flows like mead in a great hall. Whether thou seek to heave great loads as a powerlifter, or chisel thy physique like a statue of the ancients, this is thy proving ground.
Five golden gauntlets out of five. Long live the...
Read moreJust went to cancel my membership after one year. After only going 1x, my first month, when I went there was no assistance ( I didn't even see anyone to even ask a question for help beings that was my very 1st time ever in that gym), for the non weightside, extremely packed at 5 AM. I got so discouraged I left. When I went in to cancel my membership today, not once did the manager ask me, did something happen that made you only come one time, did anything happen that we need to be aware of, to me if I was the manager that would be a red flag right there. Maybe help me stay and keep my membership. The manager (who I asked for specifically to handle this) didn't ask me if there was anything specific in why I was canceling didn't even try and talk to me. Like they have so many members no big deal for someone to cancel who's only came 1x without even knowing why. Not so much as "I'm sorry this didn't work out for you" from the manager. I was so disappointed in how I was treated, manager nor the staff gentleman that he was showing how to cancel a membership. I had such high expectations and was so excited, proud of myself when I signed up and joined. Then to be treated like the way I was (like a no one)was very disheartening. Extremely POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE in all my 37yrs of working, you try to retain your customers not treat them like...
