This was the first time I've stayed at a Microtel. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience.
The good: the guy who checked me in at the front desk was nice. The room has a modern looking decor. The shower water heated quickly and the shower head sprayed well. Price of room was below average, but for good reason: you get what you pay for though maybe less.
The bad: pretty much everything else. Although the rooms seem nice at first, it is really just a cheap facade of poor quality materials. I expect this hotel to fall apart quickly as everything seems chintsy. I got a queen suite which was similar to a regular room but with a partial wall divider, and uncomfortable couch, and a little bar area with a sink. Bed was average comfort level, pillows are small and uncomfortable, and there is a freeway on one side of hotel. A bright light just outside the window was impossible to block with the curtains, making it always feel like it was daytime. The room was dirty with some crusty cheese crumbs on the counter. There were wet spots on the carpet and I realized after about 1 hour that the room smelled faintly of vomit. There is breakfast but it is not good. Coffee was very dilute. I won't be staying at...
Read moreIt's a nice plaza with probably a dozen or so different store franchises to shop through. Like many strips, you always face stores pulling in and going in. However, there really hasn't been that issue which is a plus. I feel the whole atmosphere could maybe get a tiny facelift (it looks like it's stuck in the 90s). Perhaps there could be more pedestrian-friendly paths (since at least in some areas you get mixed in with store customers and obstructed merchandise (Lowe's for example)). Tons of parking. Literally a bunch of dining options surrounding the huge property. Easy access from highway and airport...also a stones throw away from Belden Village's shopping options.
The only personal pet peeves is that it sort of ruins the view as you head West from Portage or Maple St. in North Canton. Sure, it may look cool, but based on topography, you'll likely see the ominous plaza in the distance, ultimately killing the cozy Midwest city vibe. Nothing you can really do about that, however. It would also be cool to see someone invest in a state-of-the-art plaza in actual Canton that could boost some development...but only one...
Read moreI was actually at Old Navy with my daughter. We happen to be in North Canton, we don't live there, but decided to stop at Old Navy. Omg what a mistake. There were so many people in that store they were all going to elbow that's not the stores fault but the store was a mess. It was probably because there were so many people there so I guess I shouldn't complain but I'm just saying it was not visually appealing whatsoever. And then we ended up leaving without purchasing anything because the sizing was you were either an extra small or four XL. There was nothing in the middle you either wore a size 2 or you wore a size 24. There just wasn't anything in there for an average size person and it was such a mess it was really hard to go through everything to attempt to find a size. We did dig in a couple piles but we never did end up with a large and an extra large which is what we needed. I like Old Navy as a whole it's just this experience...
