Until this wonderful bookstore was redesigned it was one of the most pleasant I know. I spend so much time browsing bookstores. Up until last year there were little nooks and crannies where unique finds were typical. Now it's a giant shoebox and all of the wonderful used finds are gone. Now it's just new stuff, full price, with a few "bargains" thrown in here and there. How could a store make a decision to decrease inventory? This is no longer a local hangout but just one more example of a store in Jackson going upscale and losing all personality in the process. Are they trying to compete with the downtown store? Why bother? Over the past five years (or since it opened)I used to spend hours and hours in this store. I won't be going back. And a final note: the decision to place the cashier's desk at front staring straight down the "box" is a terrible one. They carry new arrivals, classics, children's books, artwork, and rare first editions. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Parking is limited but I was able to park at the front door.
