I went to this location yesterday with a friend as she looked for a top to wear to her Birthday Dinner. After this experience I will never go back into this Dillard's again. We were both judged while in the store. Several and I mean a more than a normal amount of employees stalked us as we walked around the store. They greeted us with discomfort while speaking into their radios and we were literally followed around the entire store and strategically and watched as we were browsing. Now we're pretty free spirited dressing people and we probably don't look like your typical Dillard's shoppers however we had all intent on purchasing something. In fact we found a beautiful top however put it back because of the way we were being treated. My friend tried the top on and boy oh boy the way one of the employees ran over towards the dressing room as my friend came out was actually kind of funny. She no longer had the shirt in her possession. She decided she didn't want to give them her money and hung it on the rack that was by the fitting room for unwanted items. I'm 100 percent certain the lady assumed she stole it. There were tons of shoppers in the store who we observed that were not being watched but browsing freely while we had several employees hovering over us. This would have been hurtful to us a few years ago however we've learned not to allow people's ignorance to effect us. We happily took our...
Read moreI walked into the men's department looking to buy a new wallet. When I found them, two sales people were about 3 feet from the display. There were no other customers on that side of the department; just me. The one on his phone, never looked up and was silent. The one at the desk never looked up. She was also silent. When I turned around to purchase the wallet a moment later, they had both left. Not the best first impression. So I went to the nearest customer service desk, which was the cologne counter in the center of the department. There, two sales people were talking to one another and no customers. I said, "Excuse me. May I buy this here?" She answered, "Are you going to buy cologne?" "Just this." I answered. She replied, "No. You'll have to go somewhere else." Honestly, I was surprised. She pointed to a desk at the far end of the department. I've worked in customer service for nearly 18 years and one should always greet a customer, help a customer (unless already assisting another customer), and make them feel welcome. They missed all three. I know I perhaps didn't look the part of their average customer in my band t-shirt and jeans, and that I wasn't spending a ton of money on a pile of merchandise, but the wallet I chose was pricey for me. I had a better customer experience at the Tax Collector's office an...
Read moreI like Dillards quality of merchandise and enjoy buying my clothing there, however my experience in the past has never been good with the Avenues location because the service in the past has been poor. I recently decided to give it another try. I visited the store earlier this week on October 09 and had a shirt to return and bought a couple more things while I was in there. I was trying to find a register to complete my return at, but could not find one. A male store associate walked past me twice but never offered to assist or ask if he could help. It is clearly no wonder why every time I go into this store it looks desolate and no one is in there. I finally tracked down the manager and he pointed me to the lady working in cosmetics; who met me in Polo Ralph Lauren and completed the return at that register. She was helpful and nice in completing the return. I went back to the men's department trying to find a suit coat and a few other things. The entire time I was browsing in the men's suit department the two male associates there were congregated at the register both chattering and playing on their cell phones. Neither ever looked up from their phones or offered to help. It is clearly no wonder why this store appears to be failing; which is clearly why I prefer the Town Center location although Avenues is...
