St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church — Local services in Jersey City

The first day I went there the week before this Sunday, I was happy and felt great energy at the church, especially with the Nigerian priest who was very welcoming as it was my first time attending the church. The priest was able to give me a blessing. It had been a while since I went to church so I did not think I was worthy of receiving the holy sacrament yet.

Yesterday I went to mass expecting to feel the same energy, welcoming and peaceful, but I did not. Mostly because when it was time for me to receive a blessing the priest refused to say a prayer for me. I left feeling empty, sad and unwelcome. Will not be returning. Will look for other church...

We love our church ❤ father Eustace gives very gracious and encouraging homilies, and he's the reason I was willing to give catholicism a real try after wrestling with my faith for years. St Marys feels like home. If you're looking for a new church, give this one a try.
