EDIT: I had originally left a one star review with no elaboration, as I did not feel I needed any. The rating reflected my honest and accurate experience with the business owner.
After leaving this review, the owner used my name from Google to find me on LinkedIn, then paid to send me an InMail asking why I left the review, and tell me that she has requested Google remove it. I ignored this gross overreach of boundaries at first.
Four days later, I get an email that the owner has responded to my review. As for where I live, this is something I NEVER post publicly outside of the general city area. I specifically do not mention it on my social media (which is mostly private) and have a service that opts me out of “people finder” websites that would reveal my personal information, specifically because of previous cyberstalking/harassment issues in the past. So for the owner to have found this information means she must have deep dived into public records to a truly alarming level, and for her to post it is unprofessional at best.
I also find it disturbing the owner claims to have “touched base with” the companies I have left reviews with. She has no way of knowing who I have done business with or my opinions on them, and I highly doubt any company is going to tell a total stranger about their clientele.
I will not take this review down. I already had a negative experience with this business, and it has been amplified tenfold by the owner’s cyberstalking and invasive overreach of personal boundaries. Leave a negative review at your own...
Read moreWhile visiting in Jersey City, I had the opportunity to visit CITY SWIPES—and I am so glad I did!! The storefront alone was super trendy and inspiring. From handbags, boots, and clothing to wall clocks and canvases, the place was bursting with vibrance. If you aren’t familiar with paint pouring, you need to see what this abstract art form is all about!
Carri, the artist and owner of CITY SWIPES, has expanded her vision to encompass a variety of mixed media art. Not only is her work displayed throughout the studio, but she also offers up space for people to come in and create their own masterpiece! We stepped into the back space of the studio where there was even more art, multiple shelves loaded with paint, and a giant paint-spattered table. Carri enthusiastically explained the process, and the entire experience just put me into a creative, relaxed zone. I absolutely loved everything about it—and I left feeling a newfound connection to my creative side. Thanks Carri for this...
Read moreI've been to City Swipes multiple times since January, and all of my experiences there have been nothing but wonderful. Since the initial inquiry, Carrie has been fast-responding. She is very welcoming and understanding if you're running a little late. Most of all, I love that she encourages us to experiment with every piece we make. Not only are her prices very affordable, but the amount of different blank canvas you can choose from allows for even more creativity. If you're interested in starting a new hobby but are afraid to invest and commit to buying all the materials, I highly recommend that you give City Swipes a try. It's also great for date nights, going with a group of friends and family, parties, corporate event nights for team building, etc. You can choose to play music and/or do karaoke in between. It's also a BYOB if you choose to, so you're in for a...
