When I found Vanish on Outdoorsy, I had a gut feeling it was the perfect van I needed for my very first adventure in a van. I promised my pup during covid, if I survived cancer, we would make vanlife a lifestyle. First, I needed to see if I could handle this lifestyle. I tried to make the trip last year December, but my pup became extremely sick. Now, she was the one on borrowed time, so I needed to fulfill my promise to her. Did I hit the jackpot of vans or what?!?! Kevin was professional and warm. I felt like I was talking to an old friend when we met. He walked me through some stuff although I had watched the instructional video several times. Everything in the build was exactly what I needed and what I pictured my own build to have. I found myself saying, "this is what I want, or " this is exactly what I thought ". The van is well designed for a weekend getaway or that vanlifer living the life for weeks on end. The battery never drained and the only time I used my hair straightener, did I see the battery at 75%. My main concern was driving a vehicle so big, but even that became a breeze after several hours. Another concern of mine was heating. Due to chemotherapy, I now suffer from neuropathy in my fingertips and toes. I was worried I might have to be conservative in its use due to battery source or gas usage. The heating system by far exceeded my expectation. The gas gauge didn't even blink as I used the heater 2 nights in a row. With the pots and pans included, I was easily able to cook 2 dinners and 1 breakfast. I am a bigger sized person yet I didn't feel claustrophobic in the living area or the cabin. I did figure the bathroom area would be tight for me, so I chose the van that didn't have an indoor shower. I was fine using Flying J or Pilot, as I have in the past. I have a sensitive smell. I didn't know what to expect from the toilet. I am a firm believer and testify, it simply does not smell. As I carried the urine container to the bathroom at the Flying J, I was worried of the urine splashing in my bag. May I suggest a twistable cover for the container, as mine didn't have one. I had brought along a bag to carry the container knowing I didn't want to bring attention to myself. As a light sleeper, I as well as my pup Hope, were pleasantly surprised that the van picked up very minor noise the 1 time we chose to stay overnight at the Flying J on our way back home. In closing, I feel Vanish exceeded even my high expectations on my first road trip in a van. Kevin's professionalism and kind nature by far put me at ease, knowing that he was simply a text or call away. The van was built for the avid vanlifer as well as for the newbies. The ease of requesting, reserving, revving and refreshing my soul is testament that this is one company that I will recommend (my brother is sold on this idea) to family and friends alike. Once again, thank you Kevin for trusting us two gals with Donna. We are 2 extremely happy customers. I wish nothing but the absolute best and success of many journeys for you and the Vanish company. I'm already planning a trip in October! Maine , here we...
Read moreWe took Vanish van "Mary" on an awesome 10 day road trip to Florida back in May and it was truly a blast. We were headed to a family reunion in Orlando but wanted to swing by several national parks along the way. The pick up process was really smooth and Kevin was in text communication the entire trip. We left our car parked in their lot with no issues. The van was very easy to drive and actually got better gas mileage than we anticipated. We really fell in love with the design and layout of the van over the course of the trip. The lighting is bright. The bed is comfortable and easy to set up. We had plenty of storage for our clothing and we were able to make one Trader Joe's run in Jersey at the beginning of the trip that fit in the refrigerator and drawers and lasted the duration of the trip (minus meals eaten out).
Our trip south really led us through the gambit of weather. Our campsite at Shenandoah National Park had a low of 39 degrees. We turned on the onboard heater before bed and in the morning to keep things comfortable. New River Gorge National park was quite hot and the two fans kept us cool. There was heavy rain at Great Smoky Mountains National Park and we were able to cook dinner and stay dry while many other campsites struggled.
We've rented a truck and travel trailer several times and are avid tent campers. Having a Vanish van really shined when we wanted to hit a very popular spot in Smoky Mountains on a saturday. Knowing the parking area filled up quickly, we were able to wake up and be on the road within a matter of minutes. No time wasted packing up tents or hitching the trailer. We were one of the first people at the trailhead and got to experience the normally swamped attraction in peace and solitude. Better yet, we went back to the van and made coffee/breakfast and enjoyed it while the morning rush started to build.
We never had any issues with electricity despite using the induction cooktop frequently. The alternator charged the lithium batteries quickly while we drove and we were surprised by the solar when we didn't move the van for a few days in Orlando.
The only downside we experienced was on just a few stretches of highway driving, the composting toilet odor could be smelled in the cabin. This only happened when the van was traveling 70+mph (the speed limit in many parts down south). We were in communication with Kevin about it and they were working on a solution.
I cannot recommend Vanish enough to people who are looking to travel and explore nature without having to worry about the extremes of tent camping. We loved being able to fit into normal parking spots while having nearly all the creature comforts of a large RV. We were able to enjoy every moment of the beach at Assateague Island and were able to retreat to the van when the bugs began to swarm at night. It was truly a magical trip. We can't wait to plan another trip! We saw that the newest vans in their fleet even have...
Read moreWe were looking for an RV to take a short notice family trip road trip down south for a sad occasion but didn’t need a huge one. I found Vanish online and they were awesome! I’ve never heard of a camper-van and it was exactly what we needed. It was like a manageable mini-RV with a bed, fridge and eating area (we didn’t need the shower so we got one without it). They are right there in Jersey City too (a lot of the other places are far from North Jersey or they don’t deliver), so that was convenient. The camper was super clean, new, nice and modern on the inside and it drove very smoothly, AND it was nice to be able to actually lay down in the bed during the trip (not cramped for hours in an SUV seat). The only thing I would say is the driver’s seat is not made for anyone very tall, like over 6’2” or something (we didn’t have a big issue with this bc we are not a tall family but that would be the only caveat). We had many snacks, sandwiches etc along the way and taking the road trip allowed some good family bonding time together we haven’t had in a while and we needed it. Also, the customer service was top notch! Kevin was great and the camper-van was reasonably priced! I don’t usually write reviews but this company exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with our experience and will ABSOLUTELY use them again. Highly...
