Great model train exhibit, and it's free! Volunteers do run the entire space and they do take donations. Kids love it, especially the around Christmas when they expand the exhibit and dress it all up in holiday style. There are many different railroad track gauges. Even some cool Lego train/town scenes. A fun, free (donations are accepted and well worth it) spot at Union Station for our kids to check out. If someone in your family likes trains or model trains, you have to stop by. The gentlemen working there were clearly passionate about trains, very knowledgeable, and friendly.

It can be a little tricky to locate... Go in through the Grand Hall. If that's closed due to an event, go in to the Amtrak passenger area and you'll see a sign for the model trains. You have to walk for a while, but...

I thought for a moment that the place shut down for good. I am glad that they haven't. I see that this is really an O gauge system. I think part of the famous Thomas the Tank older model sets may be close to O gauge.
